Then I saw a Facebook post from one of our newer mama's telling her son, Wyatt's story & their family's journey with Children's Mercy Hospital & how it lead them to host an amazing Toy Drive for CMH. In honor of Wyatt & with our thoughts on Marloe's cancer journey with CMH, we will be collecting toys & items until Friday, January 12th. Please scroll down to read Wyatt's Story! Here is Wyatt's Story...
From Jennifer Bush:
In June of 2019, while visiting family in Kansas, our sweet infant son Wyatt had a seizure in the car. Until his seizure, there was no indication that anything was wrong. Wyatt was developing perfectly and was the happiest, most content baby boy! The CT at the hospital in Kansas revealed an orange-sized mass in his brain. The county hospital was in constant communication with Children's Mercy, and we were quickly flown back to KC. Wyatt went into emergency surgery to have the tumor removed. The mass had hemorrhaged, causing immense damage to his brain. The pathology report indicated that the mass was a fast growing and highly malignant tumor.
Devastatingly, nothing could be done to save our precious boy. Wyatt passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family the day after he turned 5 months old. We are eternally grateful for CMH and the care Wyatt and our family received.
Because of Wyatt, so many wonderful people have been brought into our lives, including his brother, Gregory (Room K). The first Christmas after Wyatt passed away, we were heartbroken that we would not be celebrating this beautiful day with him. Since we could not buy gifts for Wyatt, we decided to buy gifts to donate to CMH.
We reached out on social media and family and friends opened their hearts to donate in memory of Wyatt. It brings us great joy to give back to the hospital that gave so much to us. Wyatt continues to touch the lives of so many people and we could not be prouder to be his parents. This year marks the 4th year we have continued this tradition. It is an extreme honor to invite our Spectrum Station family to remember Wyatt with us. As other Spectrum Station families are currently being impacted by the impeccable care Children's Mercy provides, we hope you join us in donating to bring kindness, smiles, and hope to families at CMH.
Love and blessings, Russ, Jen, Wyatt, and Gregory Bush
