🎉 Congratulations to our wonderful Kindergarten Class of 2026! They have worked incredibly hard all year long, and we are so proud of their growth.
The best part? We don't have to say a final goodbye just yet—most of these smiling faces will be heading right into 1st grade next year with Ms. Ramsey!

Today is a bittersweet day at Genesis.
It’s bitter because we hosted our final Lead to Read KC visit of the school year. Every Tuesday at noon, Gail and a dedicated group of 20 volunteers—a mix of retirees and professionals spending their lunch breaks with us to read with our students. Over the past year, countless books were shared, but even better, lifelong friendships were formed.
It’s sweet because we got to celebrate our final Tuesday together with a Kona Ice party! 🍧
To our Lead to Read KC volunteers: Thank you for your time, your consistency, and your hearts. You’ve made a lasting impact on our students!

We closed out our final Sankofa Friday of the year last week! Rooted in the belief that we must learn from the past to improve the future, we spent the day honoring that mission through the power of mentorship.
Scholars Mentoring Scholars ✍️📖
Our 8th graders stepped into leadership roles today by mentoring our 4th graders on paragraph construction. It was a win-win: our older students got a great refresher on the fundamentals, while our younger scholars thrived with the individual attention. At Genesis, we know that sharpening academic skills and building a strong community go hand-in-hand!
Connecting with Our Community 🤝🏙️
We were also honored to host leaders from the OAK PARK NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION, Kansas City Missouri Police Department, Lutheran Family and Children's Services of Missouri and City of Kansas City, MO. They visited to share their wisdom and answer student questions about the challenges facing our city and how we can work together to solve them. Thank you to our community partners for giving back and inspiring the next generation of leaders!
