Harmony Project KC

Harmony Project KC HPKC, flagship program of the Northeast Community Center, brings children together through music! 🎶 We aim to build responsible, productive and caring citizens.

Harmony Project is a research-based, multi-year mentoring program that uses music as a means of positive development and social inclusion. We commit to our students for their entire childhood (K-12), provided they maintain good attendance and remain enrolled in school.

The Harmony Project KC family just got a little bigger. 💛

Congratulations to our Music Therapy & Impact Manager, Miss Liz, on the arrival of baby Miles, born August 25!

As you can see, Miles already has his Harmony Project gear and is ready to join the orchestra. 🎶

The Rebel Song Academy (RSA) is back this fall!

This season is designed for young musicians ages 10–20 who have some musical experience and are ready to dive deeper into songwriting, music-making, and finding their own voice as artists.

This year, we’re offering two different RSA sessions: 100% FREE

🎸 Rebel Song Academy
Tuesdays, 6–8 PM | Sept. 8–Dec. 8
Ages 13–20

Our regular RSA program is for young musicians who sing, play an instrument, produce, or make music regularly and want to dive deeper.

Students will work collaboratively to develop their songwriting and music-making skills while creating their own original music.

No prior songwriting experience is required!

🚀 Rebel Song Academy: Launch
Wednesdays, 6–8 PM | Sept. 9–Dec. 9
Ages 10 and Up

Launch is our new RSA offering designed specifically for younger musicians who are interested in exploring original songwriting and music creation.

Students will learn the foundations of songwriting in a supportive, collaborative environment while developing their own ideas and creative voice.

No prior songwriting experience is required!

Whether you're already making music or you're just curious about songwriting and want to explore it further, there's a place for you at RSA.

We are so proud of HPKC bassists Aidan and Jazlyn, who represented Harmony Project KC at the 2026 YOLA National Festival in Los Angeles this summer!

Presented by the LA Philharmonic, the YOLA National Festival brings together young musicians ages 12–18 from El Sistema-inspired and community music programs across the country for more than a week of intensive orchestral training, collaboration and performance.

Aidan and Jazlyn had the opportunity to learn alongside talented young musicians from across the United States, work with exceptional faculty and guest artists.

Even more remarkable, YOLA provides this experience completely free of charge to participating musicians, including travel, lodging, meals and programming — ensuring that access to extraordinary musical opportunities isn’t determined by a family’s ability to pay.

Congratulations, Aidan and Jazlyn!

Thank you to the 200+ guests who joined us for Night in Napa 2026! Every sponsor, donor, volunteer, musician and supporter made the evening possible.

Your support is helping Harmony Project KC begin an exciting new school year, including expanding our weekly programming from 8 hours to 14 hours — giving our students even more time to learn, grow and make music together.

Thanks to our incredible community, we’ve reached 92% of our Night in Napa fundraising goal.

If you weren’t able to join us — or would like to help us cross the finish line — there’s still time to be part of it. Every gift helps provide more opportunities for our students .

Help us reach 100% and start the year strong. ❤️🖤❤️
