What an unforgettable day we had yesterday at the The Kansas City Chiefs First Look event with the Hunt Family Foundation! We are honored to share that The Children's Place was once again selected by the Hunt Family Foundation to receive a grant in support of our Day Treatment program, one of just 18 organizations selected this year.

A few members of our team got to attend along with a family we serve for this once-in-a-lifetime first peek at the Chiefs ahead of the fall season.

Thank you so much, Hunt Family Foundation, and go Chiefs!

Meet Rudy Bear!

Rudy Bear is the heart and symbol of The Children’s Place, welcoming every child and family who walks through our doors. Named after Mr. Rudy Liggins, a beloved educator who dedicated 40 years+ to teaching here, Rudy Bear represents comfort, care and belonging.

From the very first greeting to the final day of services, Rudy Bear is a familiar, reassuring presence for kiddos. And when a child completes their journey at The Children’s Place, they receive their very own plush Rudy Bear as a special reminder that the same friendly face who welcomed them will continue to support them as they take their next steps.

Because at The Children's Place, we believe every child deserves to feel seen, supported and never alone.

Who says therapy can’t be fabulous? Duo Dog Coleman brought some flair and couture when he donned a feather boa during a recent Counseling Center session.

Coleman's friend was able to take him on a walk throughout our building, and he even saw her out the door, watching her longingly as she left.

At The Children’s Place, we know that every family looks different. We celebrate people from every color, race, ethnicity, place of origin, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, socioeconomic status, family structure, and those with differences in ability. We work to build an inclusive community where all people feel they are noticed and belong.

This is a Place for you.

The beginning and end of a therapy journey are important milestones that we honor here at The Children's Place. In this final session on The Children's Place on Wheels, our therapist and her little friend created painted handprints as a keepsake for the child.

Of course, she also got to take home her very own Rudy Bear, so that the same green bear she saw on the outside of the mobile mental health therapy unit is now hers to snuggle at home through the ups and downs she might face.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we invite you to take just 9 minutes to meet Ben & Conlan — a father and child whose lives were transformed through early childhood mental health support at The Children’s Place.

Mental health impacts every age, and early intervention can change a child’s future.

Watch this clip, then take a few more minutes to experience their full story at the link below — it’s worth it. 💛

The rain cleared just in time for us to enjoy a fun playground day with volunteers from Brinkmann Constructors this morning! Between lots of swing pushing, some fierce games of hide & seek, and lots of silly antics on the slide, the children we serve had so much fun playing with these energetic volunteers. They also brought popsicles and ice cream that made for the tastiest after-lunch treat.

We were honored to be chosen as a Brinkmann BECAUSE charity for 2026, generously supporting our mission through philanthropy and volunteerism. We are grateful for the wonderful team at Brinkmann for this fun Friday and for their commitment to children's mental health!
