We just wrapped up our Spring Creative Challenge “Rings That ‘DO’ Things” and we are SO impressed by what our members whipped up!

The fabulous jury members & brought their experienced insight and metalsmithing expertise to narrow down our winners. Major thanks and praise to this wonderful team.

In First Place was with his ring “Coaster”, Second was with her working whistle rings, Third was with his ring “knight’s helm” and Honorable Mention to with her matchbox ring featuring working drawer and strike plate !!!

All of our members worked so hard on this challenge and really impressed the judges and we couldn’t be more proud.

The Summer Creative Challenge starts on JUNE 15th! Are you going to join us to see if you can win the $150 cash prize?! It’s easy (and FREE!!!) for ALL member types! Ask us how to become a member and join in on the fun!

It’s A Foundry Friday Feature! Meet one of our members and frequent Foundry Friday Flyers, Bethany!

“Casting on Foundry Fridays at Alloy is like getting to feel the excitement of Christmas morning, once a month.”

Bethany started wax carving in October 2025 and has been fully immersed ever since. She’s already gathered much of the equipment needed for her home casting setup, but while her studio comes together, she’s been joining Foundry Friday every month to keep practicing with support and guidance.
Since starting, she’s experienced both exciting successes and frustrating setbacks—but she keeps showing up ready to learn. From wax carving and construction to experimenting with organics and plastics, Bethany has explored a wide range of casting techniques and continues pushing herself to discover what’s possible.

How Foundry Friday works:
Book your investment appointment. Starts the first Thursday of each month (unless otherwise noted). Choose a 15-minute investment slot between 10 AM – 1 PM — one appointment per flask.

Prep your waxes. By the start of your scheduled investment appointment, your waxes must be weighed and secured to the flask base so your flask is ready to invest.

Invest your flask. You’ll work independently, but our casting assistant will be nearby if you need a quick check. Once finished, your flask is added to the Friday casting lineup.

Burnout overnight. We’ll handle the burnout so it’s ready to pour the next day.

Cast on Friday! An instructor is will be there during the whole session to assist.

*MUST have taken Beginning Casting for Jewelry* OR *Alloy Investment Orientation*

Send us a DM if you have questions or to book your appointment!
