KCKPS SCHOOL UPDATE | Friday, August 21

KCKPS schools and facilities will be OPEN and operating normally tomorrow, Friday, August 21, with one exception:

Welborn Elementary School will remain CLOSED until further notice.

Buses will run normal routes.

Dear KCKPS Families,

After continued monitoring of power restoration and district operations following last night’s severe storms, all KCKPS schools will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, August 20.

While power has been restored to some of our buildings, ongoing storm-related outages are impacting critical district operations, including transportation services.

These impacts prevent us from safely and reliably transporting students and operating schools across the district.

We will continue to provide updates as conditions change and information becomes available.

Dear KCKPS Families,

The KidZone Program at KCKPS was originally scheduled to begin Thursday, August 20.

However, due to the powerful and damaging storms that occurred late Tuesday night, the start of the program has been postponed to Monday, August 24.

We appreciate your patience, understanding, and flexibility as we make this adjustment.

We look forward to welcoming students to KidZone on Monday!

There will be no Summer Learning classes tomorrow as district buses will be supporting transportation needs related to FIFA World Cup events in the Kansas City area.

You have led with strength, compassion, and a genuine heart for others. Because of you, so many people felt seen, supported, and inspired to do their best.
