We are delighted to share joyful news with you as we look toward the future of our school: our new Interim Lead Administrator has been selected! We are thrilled to announce that Joanna Weidler- Lewis will be stepping into this anchoring role to guide our community forward. This mindful decision was made in deep alignment and collaboration by members of our Board, our Faculty, and our Parent Association, all holding a shared vision for the care of our school.
There is a profound beauty in finding the right person right in our own backyard. Joanna is already deeply woven into the fabric of City of Fountains, carrying a rich understanding of our rhythms, our values, and the unique spirit that lives within our halls. She has already held and supported our community in so many meaningful ways, and this existing connection brings a beautiful sense of continuity and warmth to her transition.
As we enter this next chapter, we feel immense confidence in Joanna’s leadership. With her thoughtful presence and steadiness, we are certain she will not only protect the qualities that make COFS such an amazing, sacred space for our children, but will also nurture its continued growth. She steps into this role with a deep appreciation for our school’s mission and a clear vision for the path ahead.
We look forward with bright anticipation to all that will unfold under her care. Please join us in wrapping Joanna in warmth and support as she begins this beautiful new chapter of leadership.

We surveyed families in the City of Fountains School community with kids anywhere from 0-13+ asking them about their top parks in the Kansas City area and this is the result. If you or your family is looking for a good way to get outside this summer we recommend checking these places out 🌲☀️🐿️

We would like to extend a grand congratulations to Savanna Paulson and Larkin Bowlin for their outstanding success in the Mike’s Got This essay contest.
Stories shape us- and in both their writing and their quiet actions afterward, Savanna and Larkin revealed something beautiful about who they are becoming. Through their essays, they explored courage, conviction, rootedness, and the quiet strength it takes to remain steady through life’s storms and challenges.
Yet perhaps one of the most touching moments came after the awards were presented. When asked to pose for a photograph with their certificates, the girls instinctively turned them around, not wanting attention placed on distinctions in ranking or placement, but instead choosing to celebrate one another’s accomplishments equally. It was a small but meaningful gesture- a reminder that character shines brightest not only through achievement, but through humility, kindness, and the way we hold one another alongside it. We are deeply proud of both of these young women! You can read their full essays at…. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-o61xsggsfCgooJZA6lDgOpGARNIzWo0VB2Ogvf2Hh4/edit?usp=drivesdk

Through the efforts of Ms. Kristen Bowlin and Ms. Deana Bindel, the 7th and 8th grade students were offered numerous opportunities to extend their learning beyond the classroom through contests, experiential projects, public speaking, enrichment offerings, civic engagement, travel, and community-based educational experiences connected to the middle school curriculum. Throughout the year, students earned recognition and accolades both within and beyond the school community while developing confidence, collaboration, creativity, and real-world skills.
To learn more about these rich experiential opportunities offered to the students and or the City of Fountains Middle School Program, please reach out to Ms. Kristen Bowlin or contact school administration to schedule a tour!

Through Ms Kristen’s thoughtfully designed Cycling Block, students stepped beyond the classroom and into community. In partnership with 816 Bicycle Collective, she had students explore not only bicycle repair, maintenance, and road safety, but also the deeper spirit of collective work, mutual responsibility, and stewardship.
The block was designed to ask students to grow in courage and character. Several learned to ride a bicycle for the very first time before completing a 5+ mile group ride through the city. Along the way, students practiced patience, leadership, awareness, and the understanding that a strong community moves together — encouraging one another rather than leaving others behind.
Like so much of the Enrichment work planned for her class this year, the experience intentionally blended practical skill, independence, collaboration, and meaningful connection to the wider world, allowing students to encounter Kansas City not simply as spectators, but as thoughtful and engaged participants within it.
