Union Hill Day School

Today the kiddos got to make their very own veggie pizzas! From spreading the sauce and cutting up fresh vegetables to tasting their delicious creations, they were involved in every step of the process. Each child also received a personalized apron with their name on it to take home. Cooking with YaYa is always a hit at UHDS, and today's activity was no exception! 🍕👨‍🍳👩‍🍳

Last Wednesday, we had such a fun time at Kanga's! All of the kids had an absolute blast, and we can’t thank the parents enough for all of their help throughout the day—from the bus ride and lunches to joining in on the fun. We love seeing the kiddos smiling, laughing, and making wonderful memories together. Thank you for helping make it such a special day! 😊

And just like that… we are wrapping up an AMAZING Teacher Appreciation Week here at UHDS with our final celebration… Favorite Things Friday!!! 🎉🍦🩷

Today our teachers got to enjoy a fun ice cream bar filled with all the sweet toppings, laughs, and sugar they could possibly need to finish the week strong! 🍨 Then each teacher received their FINAL “THANK YOU FOR HELPING SHAPE LITTLE MINDS” gift — a tote bag and matching make-up bag packed FULL of fun little goodies just for them!!!

But honestly… the gifts, snacks, flowers, lunches, and fun themes could never fully express just how grateful we are for every single person who walks through these doors each day and pours their heart into these children.

To our UHDS teachers — THANK YOU.

Thank you for the endless patience.
Thank you for wiping tears and celebrating milestones.
Thank you for singing songs for the 500th time with excitement like it’s the first.
Thank you for the early mornings, the messy art projects, the constant cleaning, the diaper changes, the lesson planning, the circle times, the hugs, the encouragement, and the unconditional love you show every single day.

This career is not easy. It takes heart, energy, flexibility, compassion, teamwork, and sacrifice. It means loving children like your own while balancing your own families, responsibilities, emotions, and life outside of school. It means showing up even on hard days because little people are counting on you. And THAT is something truly special.

You are the comfort on hard mornings, the safe place for nervous children, the biggest cheerleaders, the confidence builders, and the reason so many children LOVE coming to school each day.

Heather and I are beyond proud to lead such an incredible group of women. You all are truly the HEART of UHDS, and without you, this place simply would not exist. Thank you for choosing a career that changes lives every single day. We see you, we appreciate you, ALL!!! 🩷✨

TEACHER'S THRIVE Thursday was one for the books at UHDS!!! 💛✨

Heather and I wanted to make sure every teacher felt a little extra appreciated this afternoon, so we delivered a snack cart full of healthy treats, waters, and a little energy boost to each classroom so we could personally say… THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!!! Because honestly… who doesn’t need an afternoon pick-me-up?! ☀️🥤🍎

We also had SO much fun putting together some throwback posters filled with old and new UHDS memories throughout the years. Looking back at all the smiles, growth, friendships, and moments that have made UHDS so special was the perfect reminder of just how amazing this community truly is. ❤️📸

But truly… the BEST part of this entire week has been watching one small act of kindness from a parent turn into an overwhelming wave of love and appreciation from so many UHDS families. From the catered Chipotle lunch, to the BEAUTIFUL flower bouquets, to the absolutely adorable Nothing Bundt Cake that was almost too cute to cut into… Heather and I were beyond touched seeing our families celebrate these teachers the same way we do every single day.

Our teachers are the HEART of UHDS. Their dedication, love, patience, energy, and encouragement help shape every child who walks through our doors, and we truly could not be more proud to lead such an incredible group of humans.

Here’s to tomorrow — our LAST official day of Teacher Appreciation Week!!! 🎉 We hope every single teacher at UHDS knows just how loved, valued, and appreciated they are every day… but WOW, this week sure has been fun celebrating them the way they deserve!!!

At Union Hill Day School we are celebrating “Whatever You Need Wednesday!” for Teacher Appreciation Week! 💛✨

Today was all about reminding our teachers that WE SEE YOU. We see the long days, the extra hugs, the endless patience, the laughter, the lesson planning, the comforting, the teaching, and the love you pour into our children every single day.

Each teacher got to pick a special ticket filled with little ways Heather and I can help support, encourage, or brighten their day — and they have the entire month of May to cash them in! 🎟️ From coffee runs to extra help, treats, classroom support, and little moments of self-care… today was all about giving back to the people who give so much of themselves daily.

We also invite everyone to go peek at our affirmation board, which is quickly filling up with kind words, encouragement, gratitude, and positivity from one another. 💕 There is something so special about watching a team lift each other up!

Thank you to our incredible teachers for being the HEART of UHDS. We appreciate you more than words can say! 🍎✨

Our team jumped into a kindness challenge today— picking names, sharing kind words, and recognizing the little (and big!) things that make each other amazing.

The result? A whole collection of heartfelt notes that seriously made us all smile.

As part of today’s theme, “Thankful for You Tuesday,” each teacher also received a handwritten, personalized thank you card from Heather and I to remind them just how appreciated they truly are. 💌

We also started an Affirmation Board in the small office — and it’s open ALL WEEK!

Today we had the absolute joy of kicking off a week dedicated to the *heart and soul* of our school… our incredible teachers. 💛

Day in and day out, they show up with love, patience, and dedication—pouring into your children even on the days that may be hard. Their resilience, passion, and commitment do not go unnoticed, and we are beyond grateful for each and every one of them.

To start the week, we treated our team to muffins, juice, and a vase of fresh flowers—because just like the blooms, they help our school grow and flourish every single day.

We are so proud to lead such an amazing group of educators. UHDS would not be what it is without them, and we will never take that for granted.
