Last week, our residents and fellows wrapped up their Summer Institute experience.

Over five weeks, they built community, strengthened their teaching practice, and laid the foundation for the school year ahead.

We're excited to see the impact they'll make as they step into classrooms across Kansas City.

Congratulations, Cohort 11 residents and Cohort 4 fellows!

We're proud to be part of the Teach KC Collaborative as we celebrate receiving the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation's first Collective Impact Implementation Grant.

This investment represents something bigger than any one organization. It's a commitment to working together to strengthen the educator workforce, expand pathways into teaching, and ensure every student in our region has access to excellent educators.

Congratulations to our fellow coalition partners on this exciting milestone. We’re grateful to be part of this work and look forward to what we’ll accomplish together for Kansas City.

We’re grateful to Dr. Derald Davis for joining our Summer Institute last week to share the rich and complex history of education in Kansas City with our residents and fellows.

Understanding the history of the communities we serve is an important part of becoming an educator. Dr. Davis challenged our participants to think critically about how the past continues to shape our schools today and reminded us that great teaching begins with understanding the people, places, and stories that make up our communities.

Thank you, Dr. Davis, for sharing your knowledge, perspective, and passion with the next generation of educators. We appreciate the time you invested in helping prepare our future teachers for the important work ahead.

Supporting adult learning is its own skill set.

Providing actionable feedback.
Coaching teachers through challenges.
Leading professional learning that actually changes practice.

If these responsibilities are part of your role, our new Instructional Leader Cohort was built with you in mind.

Through collaborative workshops and individualized coaching, you'll strengthen your ability to support teacher growth and instructional improvement.

Registration is now open through July 30. Learn more at educator-academy.org/instructional-leader-cohort/.

Last week, Summer Institute participants spent time exploring the communities where they’ll teach.

Great teaching doesn’t begin with a lesson plan; it begins with understanding people and places.

Schools are deeply connected to neighborhoods, histories, families, and communities, and learning those stories matters.

A lot of people imagine teacher preparation as sitting quietly through lectures.

But our Summer Institute is active, collaborative, reflective, challenging, creative work for EA residents and fellows.

Future teachers are building classroom foundations, practicing instructional skills, learning from one another, and preparing to support students this fall.

This week, a new group of Educator Academy residents and fellows kicked off their program year with Summer Institute.

Over the next five weeks, they'll learn together, reflect on their purpose, build meaningful community, and develop the skills they'll need to thrive in the classroom.

The foundation they build this summer - along with the values of justice, community, excellence, growth, and love that guide our work - will prepare them to become the educators our schools and students deserve.

Join us in welcoming our newest cohorts to The Educator Academy!
