Welcome to the official page of the Kansas City Ballet School!👋🏽 KCBS is a professional ballet school providing excellence in ballet training.

Kansas City Ballet School (KCBS) offers classes for children, men and women of all levels of experience. In addition to our Academy courses for aspiring dancers, KCBS offers a wide selection of Studio Classes for all ages. These dance classes are an ideal way to get fit and have fun! Plus, you can try your first class FREE. We offer two locations: Our main campus is downtown west of Union Station and our Johnson County campus is located at 95th and Nall.

It's almost here! Kansas City Ballet School's Back to School Event is this Saturday, August 29, and we can't wait to see you there.

Whether your dancer is brand new to ballet or a returning KCBS student, there's something for everyone:
✨Trial classes for ages 2–7 — 20-minute sample classes, no experience needed, just come and move!
✨Placement auditions for ages 8+ — two sessions covering all levels (arrive 15 minutes early in dance attire)
✨Vendor & info stations with Elevé Dancewear, The Dance Shoppe, PGA, KC Ballet Philanthropy, and Productions
✨Family info sessions for new and returning families, including a walkthrough of Company production auditions

📍 South Campus at Meadowbrook — 10 a.m.–1 p.m. (doors open 9:30 a.m.)
📍 Todd Bolender Center for Dance & Creativity — 2–5 p.m. (doors open 1:30 p.m.)

THE WIZARD OF OZ Summer Dance Camp is coming to North KC! 🌪️

We've partnered with North Kansas City Parks & Recreation to bring our magical summer camp experience right to your neighborhood — taught by KC Ballet School's own professional faculty! 🌈

Little dancers ages 3–5 will explore the worlds of The Wizard of Oz through dance, art projects, and prop-making — with a special parent showcase on the final day! 🎭

Beyond the studio, our Pre-Professional dancers get real career-building experience: a Choreographic Program to create and perform original work, a Student Forum with direct access to school leadership, regular observation from KC Ballet Artistic Staff, and premium Elevé Dancewear uniforms.

Training away from home just got easier.

Dancers accepted into KC Ballet's Pre-Professional or Junior Trainee Programs can live on campus at UMKC dorms — steps from the studio, close to everything you need. We have spots available for both programs and are actively recruiting more male dancers to join our ranks.

This season, Junior Trainees could find themselves on stage for The Wizard of Oz (Oct 16–25), The Nutcracker (Nov 28–Dec 24), the Sensory-Friendly Nutcracker (Dec 3), New Moves (Jan 28–31), Pinocchio (Feb. 19-21), Romeo & Juliet (Mar 12–21), and PULSE (May 14–23) — real casting opportunities in Kansas City Ballet's Main Company productions.

It's the kind of performance experience most training programs can't offer. Spots are open for dancers 17+, with housing available at UMKC dorms.
