Dual enrollment is now available! This program gives high school students the opportunity to earn college credits while still completing their high school coursework. It’s a smart way to get ahead, explore future career paths, and save on college costs. Whether your student is planning for college or looking to challenge themselves academically, dual enrollment can help them take that next step toward their goals.

Last night, we celebrated our seniors as they graduated from Kansas City Academy. During their time at KCA, three seniors became Certified Nurse Aides, several students have participated in summer art programs across the country, and one student performs with a band outside KCA. Impressively, the class has received a total of $739,500 in scholarships. We are extremely proud of our senior class and can’t wait to see what they will do in their next chapters.
Special thank you to Morgan Miller at Morgan Miller Photography. Thank you for taking amazing pictures of our seniors!

Our final Senior highlight is Izzy. Izzy has participated in several of the elective programs we offer at KCA, which helped her decide on the path she’s taking after graduation. Izzy will attend Johnson County Community College where she will be a part of the Chef Apprentice, AAS program, while ALSO participating in their music program. For her Senior Seminar project, Izzy partnered with another student to create a little library and reading room at KCA. Make sure to check it out the next time you’re at the school.

Kevin is the OG of their class. Starting at KCA in 6th grade, we have enjoyed watching Kevin evolve and become their own person. When Kevin graduates in May, they will attend Missouri State University’s Fine Arts Academy, a two week residential program for high school students. For their Senior Seminar project, Kevin has focused on helping to provide those affected in wartorn areas of the world with ways to communicate outside their immediate area. Kevin will attend the Kansas City Art Institute in the fall and will explore all the exciting opportunities that KCAI has to offer.

Today’s KCA Senior is Domino. Domino will attend the University of Kansas this fall. While he has not yet decided his area of focus, he has many interests to explore. Domino is passionate about literacy and how reading expands a person’s world as they grow. For his Senior Seminar project, he created a website that provides viewers with a list of banned books, reviews, and a map of bookstores where these books can be found.

Cade is today’s Senior Highlight. Cade will attend the University of Central Missouri and study Nursing with a focus on OR or ER medicine, while minoring in French. For Cade’s Senior Seminar project, she was inspired by her love for our National Parks. Cade is gathering native plants to upgrade KCA’s outdoor classroom, to make it a more inviting and sustainable area. If you would like to help Cade plant her garden, join us on April 18th, during our Grow and Gather event.
