Our biology students are conducting a year-long investigation on the tapestry of Jerry Smith Park. The investigation will include 4 visits to the only unplowed public native prairie in Kansas City. Students will be learning ecological population studies on the prairie ecosystem, conducting soil experiments to have conversations about erosion and water flow, spending time learning about the geological history, and learning about the cultural significance of the tall grass prairies. Today’s visit focused on learning about end-of-summer prairie life and abiotic factors.
