3 years ago, five incredible students and their families took a leap of faith and said a big โ€œYES!โ€ to a brand-new adventure called Pirates Onward. ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธโœจ

Today, those original five are officially aging out of our program! ๐Ÿฅน Itโ€™s been three unforgettable years packed with adventures, endless learning, delicious cooking sessions, and so much laughter.

Join us in wishing a bittersweet goodbye to the original, 3-year Onward Crew! We are so proud of you and can't wait to see where your journey takes you next. ๐Ÿ’œ ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ

Thanks to a generous grant from the Piper Educational Foundation, the Onward Crew was able to add a switch adapted pouring device to our catalog of accessible tools.

With the press of a button, weโ€™re able to pour from a cup! Weโ€™ll be using this tool and many of our others in lots of our endeavors going forward!

What an impactful, powerful, and meaningful series of Friday mornings! While we are sad to see our time with Independence, Inc end for this school year, we look forward to continued partnership with them. Does anyone have any extra Lego sets gathering dust in the back of a closet? Weโ€™re looking to give some sets a second life!

Beyond just being a blast to build, Legos are such a powerhouse for development. They help us work on:

โ€ข Fine Motor Skills: All that clicking and snapping strengthens those hand muscles.

โ€ข Patience & Focus: Following complex instructions teaches great "stick-to-it-iveness."

โ€ข Problem Solving: Figuring out spatial awareness and structural integrity is basically a stealth engineering lesson.

โ€ข Creativity: Once the manual is put away, the possibilities are literally endless!
