Hello 1979 sisters ... Many good things are happening at STA ... we are celebrating the 150th year of the sisters at Saint Teresa's in Kansas City. I attended the mass celebration on January 31st at Visitation.
It was so fun to see old friends and their parents. I hope you will consider attending some of the 150th celebration events. I will send out a separate email with those dates and details.
For now ... check out these happenings ...
STA Inclusion Project:
The STA students are reaching out to you on behalf of the Inclusion Project, which will shed light on the history of STA’s diversity. This year they are gathering stories from former students who highlight the school’s rich and diverse history as a celebration of St. Teresa’s 150th Anniversary.
The Cultural Diversity Committee, which is an extracurricular for the girls is headed up by Michelle Johnson an alum from 1982. They define diversity not only as differences in race, but also ethnicity, socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientation, religion, disabilities, living in different neighborhoods in the Greater Kansas City, Missouri area, etc. These stories will be presented in 2016 as part of STA's anniversary celebration.
If you are willing to share any stories about your unique high school experience or any meaningful memories about how encountering diversity at STA influenced your life, please send them to this group at [email protected], or by calling Michelle T. Johnson, our project facilitator, at 816-225-8153.
