Happy Juneteenth!
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated honors Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, as an historic moment in American history. On June 19, 1865, news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached the last enslaved individuals in Galveston, Texas, marking the true beginning of freedom for all.
We proudly recognize the efforts of our own trailblazing Soror, Opal Lee, the āGrandmother of Juneteenth,ā whose unwavering advocacy helped make Juneteenth a federally recognized holiday in 2021.
Today, we celebrate emancipation, reflect on our ancestorsā strength and resilience, and recommit to the work of advancing justice, equity, and unity. Through education, action, and solidarity, we move closer to a world rooted in true freedom for all.

Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten. Today, we pause to reflect on their selflessness and the profound impact they've had on our nation, and their families who bear the burden of their absence šļø
