Caring Communities support meaningful experiences for people of every age! π΄π΅
Recently, seniors at Palestine Senior Center - LINC Caring Communities enjoyed a special performance by local actor Rickey Peters, who portrayed abolitionist and community leader James Forten.
Moments like this create vital opportunities to learn, connect, and engage that strengthen our communities. β¨

"Don't let them tell you it's too late. Don't let fear convince you that you're not capable."
Those words from graduate Victoria Ojeda captured the spirit of this year's Missouri Star School graduation ceremony. π
For these graduates, earning a high school equivalency diploma represents perseverance, determination, and a belief that new opportunities are always possible. Some balanced coursework while raising children. Others worked toward career goals while overcoming significant challenges. All of them showed up, put in the work, and reached an important milestone.
This year's ceremony was especially meaningful as it brought together graduates from both Missouri Star School and LINC's Missouri Work Assistance (MWA) program for the first combined celebration. Together, they reminded us that success is not defined by where a journey begins, but by the courage to keep moving forward.
Congratulations to this incredible group of graduates! We are honored to celebrate your achievement and excited for what comes next. β¨

Strong communities start with informed residents! π‘
Today, members of the LINC team participated in Deputy Registrar training at the Kansas City Election Board as part of our ongoing commitment to civic engagement and community awareness.
Throughout the summer, LINC Caring Communities Coordinators will be helping Kansas City residents access voter registration resources and stay informed about upcoming election dates and ballot issues. π³οΈ
Weβre proud to support opportunities that help residents connect with the issues that shape the places they live, work, and raise their families.

Strong communities are shaped by the people who call them home. π‘
As conversations continue about the future of the former McCune site, community members are invited to attend an upcoming town hall hosted by Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota to learn more and share their perspectives.
Community engagement is essential to creating places where children, families, and neighbors can thrive. We encourage those interested in the future of this property to take part in the conversation!

Communities grow stronger when people come together with a shared commitment to children and families. π¨βπ©βπ¦
Members of the LINC team are attending Institute for Educational Leadership's 2026 National Community Schools and Family Engagement Conference in Long Beach, where educators, advocates, and community leaders from across the country are collaborating around one shared belief: Every child deserves the opportunity to thrive. π
At LINC, this work is at the heart of our mission. Conferences like this allow us to learn, connect, and bring back new ideas that help strengthen the support systems surrounding students and families across Kansas City.
Together, we continue building brighter futures through partnership, connection, and community. π«Ά
