Hands-On Learning in Action! 🌿
Our Landscaping students have been hard at work bringing their skills to life! As part of their latest project, they designed and built a beautiful retaining wall and planter set from the ground up.
Throughout the process, students explored key horticulture concepts like plant life cycles, hardiness zones, weather impacts, and plant selection. They carefully chose and planted a variety of trees, along with bushes, shrubs, and flowers to complete the space. 🌳🌼
But the learning didn’t stop there! Students also gained valuable hands-on experience operating industry equipment, including skid steer loaders, excavators, and handlers with auger attachments. Using these tools, they successfully installed a picket fence—digging post holes, mixing and setting concrete, and placing each picket with precision.
👏 We’re proud of the hard work, teamwork, and real-world skills these students are building every day!

🍽️ Culinary Arts Capstone Practicals – Round 2!

Our student‑run Capstone cafés are in their second round, and last week was a huge success 👏check out the photos! 👏

Each student created their own restaurant or bakery concept, handling everything from branding and menu design to costing, layout, and customer service.

❄️ Hands-On Learning Beyond the Classroom! ❄️
On April 9th, PCC HVAC students took learning to the next level with an exciting behind‑the‑scenes tour of the Kansas City Mavericks Hockey Arena. Students explored the arena’s newly installed chiller system, gaining firsthand insight into how ice is created and maintained for professional hockey play.
The group also headed to the rooftop to check out the HVAC systems that regulate temperature and humidity, critical factors for both ice quality and overall building comfort. To top it off, students learned how Zamboni machines operate and play a key role in keeping the ice smooth and game‑ready.
Experiences like this connect classroom knowledge to real‑world applications and give our students a glimpse of where their skills can take them! 🛠️🏒

KCKCC Line Tech students have been hard at work alongside the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (BPU) at the International Lineman’s Rodeo grounds, preparing for the International Lineman’s Rodeo taking place this October. This hands‑on collaboration gives students valuable real‑world experience while supporting one of the most respected events in the linework industry.
We’re proud of our students and grateful for our continued partnership with KC BPU as they help prepare for this world‑class event.

Successful Industry Engagement Day!
Our April 14th employer event was a huge success! Students gained valuable insight into the hiring process, industry opportunities, and workforce trends during morning breakout sessions, followed by meaningful connections at the networking and hiring fair.
