Connecting academics to real life experiences is one of the best and most important parts of learning! Before school let out, Mrs. Reising's 6th grade math classes experienced a “Target Takeover” as students rotated through real-world math stations using skills learned throughout the semester.
From calculating discounts to budgeting, fractions, decimals, and problem-solving, students applied their math knowledge in fun, hands-on shopping scenarios. It was a great way to celebrate all they’ve learned while showing how math is used in everyday life. We are so grateful for the donations and support of Target!

SCA Seniors have the opportunity to take "Career Internship" as a class where they shadow careers for graduation credit, experiencing the field they are most interested in pursuing post graduation! Twenty SCA Seniors enrolled in the Career Internship program last semester and gained experience in the professional community!
Carmen Mullins- interned at The Haley Epps Team- “Internship is a huge blessing because I get to see behind-the-scenes of what a realtor goes through from the legal side of things to the hard work that it takes to be successful. I’m blessed with this opportunity to see what this job requires.”
Esther Willoughby- interned at Abacus Accounting Solutions- “Internship was a great experience! This helped me understand what an accountant does and the kind of environment they're in!”
Ava Rapley- interned at SCA with Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Davis. “I’m glad that I took internship because it helped me realize that I want to be a teacher. I’ve learned so much from Mrs. Davis and her kindergarten class.”
Garrett Dorian- interned at Raytown - Lee's Summit Community Credit Union- "I am very glad that I took internship. I would say if you are a senior and have no idea what you want to do after high school, I think it is a non-negotiable and you should take internship."
