A primary student carefully using the toaster is one of those quiet Montessori moments that looks simple on the outside, but holds so much learning underneath!
In Practical Life, real tools are used with real purpose. A toaster isn’t just about making toast, it’s about sequencing, patience, hand-eye coordination, and most importantly, respect for risk. Children learn that heat, timing, and electricity require awareness and care. With clear modeling and repetition, they build independence and confidence in a way that feels natural, not forced.
These are the everyday moments where responsibility becomes something they do, not something they’re told about.
We currently have openings in our programs:
• Toddlers: Mon/Tues opening, Friday PDO openings
• Primary: A few Monday/Tuesday openings, Friday PDO openings
• Elementary: 2 openings
If you’re looking for a thoughtful, hands-on environment where children are trusted with real work and real learning, we’d love to connect.

A fantastic first day for our elementary program! Elementary students examined a mushroom, took a walk, had lots of muddy play, did a chalk relay, a rest period, and bottle rocket experiments! Lunch was chicken, buttery noodles (gf/df version available!), Mixed veggies, and orange. Afternoon snack was hippeas and carrot sticks.
We have space for 2 more children to join our year-round elementary program!

“The child has to acquire physical independence by being self-sufficient; he must become of independent will by using in freedom his own power of choice; he must become capable of independent thought by working alone without interruption.”
-Dr. Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind, p. 257
Just L👀K at the range of work our toddler students choose! Each choice is prepared thoughtfully for the toddler environment so that students acquire skills they will need in later years. We love early childhood education!

“There must be provision for the child to have contact with nature; to understand and appreciate the order, the harmony and the beauty in nature.” — Maria Montessori 🌱
Last week, our students enjoyed gardening! Gardening is more than play—it’s part of Practical Life learning through Care of the Environment. From digging and planting to watering, weeding, and harvesting, children build independence, coordination, and responsibility while caring for the world around them. 🌼🪴
