LECP stands for Law Enforcement Career Paths. It is a program for Tonka high school students who want to follow a career in policing.
LECP Sgt. Carter J. Hale has been a dedicated member of the LECP program since his sophomore year. Sgt. Carter volunteered his time to help with the Junior Police Academy and assisted with security for after school events. Bear McCulley presented Sgt. Carter the LECP Scholarship.

Last week LECP we touch base on reasonable suspicion and probable cause as it relates to car stops. Then we had some hands-on training on handcuffing, car stops and felony stops.

This past week, the LECP had the opportunity to look into Traffic Stops. Due to the weather we were not able to utilize the patrol vehicles or approach.
However, we were able to go over everything in a classroom setting and worked on approach and how to look beyond the stop.
The Cadets did really well.

We had our final LECP Meeting of the year today!
We had a Promotion to Sergeant and a Pizza Celebration afterwards.

Yesterday was our first meeting where we reviewed the expectations for the LECP members. Rank was issued to the members, Bella Dawson-Darrel was named Captain, and Lynn Alexander named Lieutenant. Both of these cadets lead by example by upholding all the standards for what our program stands for last year.
Coach Markel Fluker assisted the cadets with drill to establish order and structure at the bringing of class.

Our school resource deputies can't wait to see North Kansas City Schools students on their first day tomorrow! Here is who will be greeting you in the hallways.
In addition, the Gladstone MO Police and City of North Kansas City Police Department each provide a school resource officer at Antioch Middle School and North Kansas City High School, respectively.

This past week Clay County Deputies went around and personally delivered the Clay County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office Junior Police Academy acceptance letters to some very excited future Cadets!
