Dear Brooks Sharp Sixth-Grade Families,
We are excited to welcome you to the 2026β2027 school year! This year, our focus is simple: creating an exceptional school experience for every student who walks through our doors. We are committed to building a culture of belonging, cultivating the brilliance in every student, and empowering them to achieve beyond what they ever imagined both inside and beyond the walls of our school. As we begin this exciting year together, we want to share a few important updates and information with you:
Open House: Our Back-To-School Open House will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at the Brooks Sharp Sixth-Grade Center from 4pm-6pm. Please come to meet our amazing team, learn more about our school, and stay connected.
First Day of School: The first day of school is August 24, 2026. Our school hours are 8:15am-3:15pm.We open school doors at 8:00am and begin dismissing at the end of the day at 3:00pm. On the first day of school, families are invited to walk their students to class.
Fall Title 1 Meeting: Our Fall Title 1 Meeting will take place on August 25th from 5:30pm-6:30pm. Please plan to attend and learn more about our school. Light refreshments will be provided.
Transportation: Bus route information will be available in the First View App beginning on August 19th. There is an App that can be downloaded to track the bus, or you can contact First Student at (816) 315-0888.
Arrival/Dismissal: Buses will be parked at the front entrance of the school for arrival and dismissal. Car riders will be dropped off and picked up at the back side of the school (which faces Hickman Mills Middleβs Front Entrance). If your child arrives after 8:25am, they will need to come to the front entrance of the school to enter the building, not the regular car rider pickup and drop off.
School Supplies: Our school district has published required school supplies for 6th grade students. That list can be found at: HMC-1 Middle Schools Supply List. Alternatively, HMC-1 is offering school supply kits built and ready to purchase. No need to go shopping; everything you need is ready in the kit. Learn more by clicking HMC-1 School Supply Kits.
Cell Phone Policy: Missouri Senate Bill 68 now requires all public schools to restrict student use of personal communication devices β including cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, and tablets β during the school day. This new law applies to all Kβ12 students and includes time spent in class, hallways, the cafeteria, and study halls. Click here to read HMC-1's complete Cell Phone Policy.
We are thrilled to welcome our students and families back for another exciting school year at Brooks Sharp Sixth-Grade Center! We look forward to partnering with you to make the 2026β2027 school year a meaningful, successful, and memorable experience for every student. Thank you for being an important part of our school community. We canβt wait to see you soon!
