Hello Brooks Sharp Sixth-Grade Families,

I would like to formally welcome you to the 2026-2027 school year! Just a few reminders before we embark on the school year! School begins on Monday, August 24th at 8:15am. Doors open at 8am with free breakfast and homeroom. Please take a moment to see some important information about school. I want to remind you that cell phones, smart watches and other personal electronic devices may NOT be used during the school day for any reason. If you need to contact your child, please contact the main office at 816-316-7600.

Buses will unload (am) and load (pm) at the front entrance of our school. Students cannot be dropped off or picked up on this side while buses are present. Car riders and walkers will enter and exit from the side door which faces the Hickman Mills Middle School parking lot. There will be 2 lanes: one for 6th Grade Students and the other for 7th/8th Grade Students. Please plan to drop students off and pick them up from the curb, which is closest to our building.

Also, be sure to attend our Fall Title 1 meeting on Tuesday, August 25th at 5:30 here at Brooks Sharp 6th Grade Center. Come and learn about our school and our program. Lastly, we will have a community partner , Summit Church, on site on Saturday, August 29th from 10a-12p for a free mobile food pantry. Please stop by and grab some food.

Dear Brooks Sharp Sixth-Grade Families,

We are excited to welcome you to the 2026–2027 school year! This year, our focus is simple: creating an exceptional school experience for every student who walks through our doors. We are committed to building a culture of belonging, cultivating the brilliance in every student, and empowering them to achieve beyond what they ever imagined both inside and beyond the walls of our school. As we begin this exciting year together, we want to share a few important updates and information with you:

Open House: Our Back-To-School Open House will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at the Brooks Sharp Sixth-Grade Center from 4pm-6pm. Please come to meet our amazing team, learn more about our school, and stay connected.

First Day of School: The first day of school is August 24, 2026. Our school hours are 8:15am-3:15pm.We open school doors at 8:00am and begin dismissing at the end of the day at 3:00pm. On the first day of school, families are invited to walk their students to class.

Fall Title 1 Meeting: Our Fall Title 1 Meeting will take place on August 25th from 5:30pm-6:30pm. Please plan to attend and learn more about our school. Light refreshments will be provided.

Transportation: Bus route information will be available in the First View App beginning on August 19th. There is an App that can be downloaded to track the bus, or you can contact First Student at (816) 315-0888.

Arrival/Dismissal: Buses will be parked at the front entrance of the school for arrival and dismissal. Car riders will be dropped off and picked up at the back side of the school (which faces Hickman Mills Middle’s Front Entrance). If your child arrives after 8:25am, they will need to come to the front entrance of the school to enter the building, not the regular car rider pickup and drop off.

School Supplies: Our school district has published required school supplies for 6th grade students. That list can be found at: HMC-1 Middle Schools Supply List. Alternatively, HMC-1 is offering school supply kits built and ready to purchase. No need to go shopping; everything you need is ready in the kit. Learn more by clicking HMC-1 School Supply Kits.

Cell Phone Policy: Missouri Senate Bill 68 now requires all public schools to restrict student use of personal communication devices – including cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, and tablets – during the school day. This new law applies to all K–12 students and includes time spent in class, hallways, the cafeteria, and study halls. Click here to read HMC-1's complete Cell Phone Policy.

We are thrilled to welcome our students and families back for another exciting school year at Brooks Sharp Sixth-Grade Center! We look forward to partnering with you to make the 2026–2027 school year a meaningful, successful, and memorable experience for every student. The day began with a breakfast served by our amazing parents, followed by an exciting Field Day organized by Coach Sullivan, and ended with a special picnic made possible through parent donations and volunteers.

Today our Girls on the Run/ Heart of Sole participants showed strength, determination, confidence, and heart at the marathon! We are so proud of each young lady for pushing through, encouraging one another, and finishing strong. This experience was about more than running. It was about believing in themselves, building confidence, and realizing they can accomplish anything they set their minds to. Keep shining! ABMS Strong!!
