APD extraordinaire Dr. Andrew Pirotte is the 2025 Rainbow Award Winner.
The Rainbow Award was established in 1998-1999 by the Medical Student Assembly in conjunction with the Dean of the School of Medicine to honor our heroes in medicine.
The distinguished Rainbow Award honors those individuals who exemplify the attributes of professionalism in medicine and share those qualities with the students whom they mentor.

Calling all senior medical students interested in KU for residency! Our GME will be hosting an all KUMC virtual open house. Please register and come to meet with faculty, residents, and leaders from many programs including KU Emergency Medicine Residency Program!
8/16 is the open house to meet KUMC and 8/23 is the open house to meet professionals in the KC area.

The University of Kansas Medical Center is committed to maintaining a diverse, inclusive learning and working environment. As a leading academic medical center, we are charged with training emergency physicians to treat our diverse patient population. Our Visiting Student Diversity Scholarship Program provides two scholarships for visiting fourth-year medical students to complete an Emergency Medicine elective rotation at the KUMC.
Scholarship Details:
·Our Visiting Student Diversity Scholarship Program provides opportunities for two visiting senior medical students to receive up to $2,000 reimbursement to offset housing, fees, travel, and other living expenses during their visiting Emergency Medicine Student Rotation.
Eligibility:
·Applicants must be entering their final year of medical school (MS4 or MS6), U.S. medical school students, from outside the Kansas City metro area who plan to match in Emergency Medicine.
·Students who are members of groups underrepresented in medicine are encouraged to apply.
Application Process: to apply for this scholarship you must:
·Apply for the KUMC ERMD 919 rotation via VSLO
