Most schools make parent involvement harder than it needs to be. Communication flows one way, conferences are rare, and by the time you find out something is wrong, weeks have already passed.
Strong home-school connections change that entirely. When families and school personnel share information regularly, interventions happen faster and students feel the difference on both sides of the door.
Your involvement isn't a nice-to-have. For non-traditional learners, it's often the deciding factor between stalling out and moving forward.

A letter grade tells you what your teen scored. It doesn't tell you how far they've come. For non-traditional learners, the biggest wins happen in moments that never make it onto a transcript.
Real progress looks like asking for help instead of shutting down. It looks like staying present through frustration and speaking up in a group when it feels risky. Those are the gains worth tracking.
Holistic growth measures your child across every dimension of who they are becoming. That's the kind of assessment that actually means something.

In honor of Christmas in July, we're sharing a little holiday magic from Plaza Academy.
Every year at Plaza Academy, we make sure every single student has a gift to open at Christmas. It's one of the best days of the year—and it wouldn't happen without some pretty incredible people.
Huge shoutout to Tina (teacher extraordinaire, gift-wrapping champion, and all-around Christmas magic maker) for helping make it happen year after year. And to Jesse, who somehow manages BP next door and still finds time to look out for our kids every single day—we're so grateful for you.

Each year, Plaza Academy celebrates students who gave their all on the NWEA MAP Growth test with a special end-of-year lunch! We are proud of the hard work, perseverance, and growth shown by our students — many of whom raised their scores this year.
The MAP Growth test helps measure academic progress and identify each student’s unique learning needs, making every bit of growth worth celebrating!
We hit a home run with this one!
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, all of our students from Plaza Academy had the opportunity to attend a Kansas City Royals game!
Experiences like this go far beyond the classroom—building community, creating memories, and giving our students the chance to just have fun as we wind down the 2025-2026 school year.
