Dr. Sejun Song, Associate Professor at University of Missouri-Kansas City, introduced his game-changing application of low-cost sensor systems for small-scale farming operations to the first group of trainees at our Smart Agricultural Entrepreneurship (SAgE) Training Program. Not only did trainees learn how to apply this technology, they also had hands-on training to build their own sensor to take home and start experimenting on their farms!

Kansas City enjoyed the SMART Food Oases Symposium yesterday. Sponsored by the National Science Foundation and hosted by the Center for Applied Environmental Research at UMKC.
Leading experts shared their findings on challenges facing food security in the Kansas City Metropolitan area. The work of this Food Oases project over the past years and the culmination of this Symposium facilitated a discussion between community stakeholders and academic researchers to gather information that leads to better solutions for supporting food security for all.
