Engagement to Mastery: Phases and Stages of Play Therapy

The process of Play Therapy looks different for every single child. However, each unique play therapy case moves through the same phases and stages of play, even if at different paces. Why is this so important to know? It provides a framework and guide-map for you, the Play Therapist, to provide sound conceptualization of how the child is processing through their work, and what you need to be able to provide sound and connected parent consultation. This training will focus on the Child Centered Play Therapy approach, and identify what you can perceive about the child’s therapeutic process, readiness for change and the child’s healing and growth. Be better equipped to understand the different presentations of a child’s emotions and behaviors, themes and metaphors in relationship to how a child engages with the environment, the therapist and the process.
