FYI Wonder Families

It’s been a WONDERful couple of days. We started our school year off with an incredible Convocation yesterday. We heard from district leaders, current teachers and parents. A few of those teachers are ALB alum. How special is that?! We recognized our Q4 Shining Star, Gail Funderburke, and were serenaded by our ALB students and inspired to “Rise Up”! Special shoutout to our drum line, cheerleaders, chorus students (and graduates)! Sabreion Campbell was selected to kick off our year by ringing that bell! 🔔

We followed that up with a strong push to deepen our instruction, as staff dug into the KCS Instructional Framework! Today, we carried that into more team building and learning as a Wonder family.

To top off it all off—Morris Jenkins helped us celebrate our staff with a free ice cream truck! We are so grateful for their support as we prepare for an amazing year.

Let’s talk Freshman Orientation & Open House!
🗓️August 10th🗓️

🌟FRESHMAN ORIENTATION 9am-12pm (9th grade only)🌟

•This is a time for 9th graders to engage with Link Crew leaders to get to know the school, engage in team building activities and learn tips for high school life.

•You need to be present for the entire time to get your schedule. If not, you will need to attend the 3-5pm Open House.

•Parents will drop 9th graders off at Bullock Gym (on Brown High Dr).

•Parents will attend a Freshman Parent Academy session, beginning at 9:15 and reunite with their student later. This will be in the KPAC. Mr. Butch will speak about the expectations and life of a high schooler, along with opportunities for parents to get involved!

💚Clubs & Activities Fair 2pm-3pm💚

•Come to the cafeteria to explore what ALB has to offer from student led organizations to parent involvement opportunities!

🌟OPEN HOUSE (All students) 3pm-5pm🌟
•This is for all students to get schedules, meet their teachers and explore the campus.

•9th graders who came for orientation may come to meet teachers at this time if they choose.

•Mr. Butch will be presenting at 3pm and 4pm in the KPAC. Parents are encouraged to attend!

•Transportation information will be available here as well.

Yesterday we celebrated the restoration of the Cupola. Originally part of the Cannon Mill, it now stands at AL Brown as a reminder of our town’s history. This restoration is a product of an amazing collaboration between the City of Kannapolis, our school and district leaders, and our students. Thank you to all those involved for making this possible.
