Rain or shine, the Kays show up! At the end of September, Kankakee High School students in our special education program joined some of their peers and buddies for a fun-filled day at the BB Special Games!

Despite the rainy weather, the smiles, excitement, and school spirit never stopped. It was wonderful to see students cheering one another on, building friendships, and making memories together.

We love celebrating opportunities that bring our students together and remind us that every Kay belongs, every Kay matters, and every Kay deserves the chance to shine!

¡Llueva o truene, los Kays siempre están presentes! A finales de septiembre, los estudiantes de Kankakee High School que participan en nuestro programa de educación especial se unieron a algunos de sus compañeros y amigos para disfrutar de un día lleno de diversión en los BB Special Games.

A pesar de la lluvia, ¡las sonrisas, la emoción y el espíritu escolar nunca faltaron! Fue maravilloso ver a los estudiantes animándose unos a otros, fortaleciendo amistades y creando recuerdos juntos.

We are almost fully at 100% with medical compliance!

Please keep in mind that these percentages can fluctuate as new students enroll and as families attend or miss scheduled appointments noted on their appointment cards.

If your child is NEW to KSD you have 30 days to submit your medical compliance documentation. If you need an appointment, the Kankakee School-Based Health Clinics are available to help.

This year, our Moments That Matter series is putting the spotlight where it belongs; on the incredible students who make Kankakee School District 111 special!

Meet Shaila Suarez, a senior at Kankakee High School, who is doing big things and sharing her voice in meaningful ways. As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Shaila is also helping us recognize the importance of honoring Hispanic heritage, celebrating culture, and embracing the diversity that makes our school community stronger.

At KSD111, every Kay has a story worth sharing, and we’re proud to celebrate the students who inspire us, make a difference, and remind us why our work matters.

¡Este año, nuestra serie Momentos que Importan pone el enfoque donde debe estar: ¡en los increíbles estudiantes que hacen que el Distrito Escolar 111 de Kankakee sea especial!

Conoce a Shaila Suarez, estudiante del duodécimo año de la Escuela Preparatoria de Kankakee, quien está logrando grandes cosas y compartiendo su voz de manera significativa. Due to the length of last night’s Board of Education meeting and our desire to ensure our community has the opportunity to hear all that was discussed, we did not produce a Board Brief video. Instead, we are sharing the full Board meeting livestream so families and community members can stay informed.

Last night, Superintendent Dr. Teresa A. Lance, alongside members of the KSD leadership team, presented “School Boundaries and New Grade Band Configurations,” a proposal focused on the future of our district’s school structure for the upcoming school year.

The proposal includes transitioning to K–5 neighborhood elementary schools and creating a true 6–8 middle school model to support students through these important stages of their educational journey.

The meeting also included discussion and a Board decision to begin the process for a resolution regarding Mark Twain, along with planned changes connected to the ongoing Facility and Boundary Study.
