Kane Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3), was established in 2003 to support and promote opportunities for educational excellence in Kane County, Utah.

The Foundation works with the Kane County School District, but has a Board of Trustees that operates independently. The Board make-up combines the talents of local business and community leaders and their innovative ideas, entrepreneurial spirit and business savvy with the expertise of education professionals. The group comes together from a variety of backgrounds, each having a strong interest in enriching the quality of education in Kane County. A nonprofit education foundation is a rare thing in a small place. The education foundations in the urban areas of our state bring in ten or twenty times as much as we do, following the trend of growth of public education foundations. They are the centers of large, regional businesses, who contribute to their growth and financial stability. It is a challenge to create and nurture a school foundation in a place where no one is famous or very wealthy, where most businesses are small and many residents are uneducated and of modest income. It is a challenge to apply for grants and be disadvantaged only because of the size of the student population to benefit. Yet, we are meeting these challenges, uniting our community and slowly gaining support outside our county. We are unique.

With the recent passing of Dolly Parton, I’ve been thinking about what an incredible legacy she is leaving behind. ❤️
Here in Kane County, we’ve been lucky enough to be part of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library since 2021, and I’ve gotten to see firsthand what a difference it makes. Thousands of FREE books have been delivered to nearly 500 local children, helping give our kids a love of reading and a stronger start in life.
Now, Kristin Andrus and Operation Literacy are working to make this program permanently funded across Utah. Kane County is one of only a few counties currently participating, thanks to the incredible generosity of our County Commissioners, Best Friends, and other local donors.
I can’t think of a better way to honor Dolly than to help continue the work she cared so much about. ❤️

The 4th of July Color Run was so much fun and a huge success this year! It’s such a fun tradition, and with around 400 runners we were able to raise some good funds for the amazing students of Kane County.🙌🏻We want to give a big shoutout to Kanab City Recreation for sponsoring this run and the KHS Cheer for helping out at all the chalk stations! We couldn’t make this run happen without them! We already can’t wait for next year!

You can’t convince me that there is a better 4th of July than Kanab’s 4th of July…… 🎇! Start the day by waking up with the cannons and then coming to run the 5k Color Run! Not only is it a great way to start the day, you are helping raise funds for the amazing students in Kane County for programs like the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, our preschool summer science camp, art in the library, STEM camps, and summer counseling! A big thanks to Kanab City Recreation for helping fund the run and supporting our students as well! We will see everyone Saturday morning bright and early! 🙌🏻
