Waimea Country School

Waimea Country School waimeacountryschool.org* Fully accredited K-6 academic program* Low student/teacher ratio* Safe, nur At our campus at St.

Waimea Country School is a small, independent elementary day school located in Kamuela, Hawai‘i, serving children ages 4 to 12 since 1996. Our school is dedicated to engaging each child’s own sense of learning and encourages children to take responsibility for their own work to promote a lifelong love of learning. James’ Circle, students are enrolled in kindergarten through sixth grade. We offer a

child-centered curriculum embracing a multiage learning program that incorporates literature, fine arts, mathematics, science, Hawaiian Studies, health and fitness, social studies, technology and study skills. Integration of many subjects helps student learning gain vitality, depth and relevance. Our low student-teacher ratio ensures a personalized experience for every child and forges close bonds between students and teachers. This builds student confidence and encourages children to take risks with their learning, to challenge themselves, and to grow. Waimea Country School students learn to be in charge of their own learning – to be thinkers, challengers, and wonderers. Our graduates develop into eager, creative learners who are well-prepared for life’s challenges – academically, socially, and ethically.

30 years of learning, and we’re just getting started!
Our K-5 classrooms spent the first two incredible weeks of school buzzing with connection, growth, and endless fun!
Stepping into our classrooms this year, we've been busy creating classroom agreements, practicing being pono, and embracing everything that makes multiage learning and life as a country school kid so special.
Our days have been filled with math games, hands-on science experiments, sharing books we love, practicing yoga, strumming ukuleles in music, dancing in PE, serving our community at the food pantry and nature park and enjoying plenty of recess giggles.
These past two weeks truly capture the heart of how we love to learn. Thank you for being part of our 30-year story—swipe through to see the magic in action!📷

Huge mahalo to our incredible school ‘ohana!
From our incoming kindergartners getting their first taste of teamwork, to amazing alumni, current students, faculty and staff who came out during their summer break to help move wood chips onto the playground.
When our school ‘ohana show up to make light work of a big task it reminds us that the dedication, heart, and community connection never leave you.
Once a Country School kid, always a Country School kid!
We are so grateful for our village!

Mahalo to everyone who joined us for yesterday’s Hawaii Island Visitor Industry Charity Walk! 👟✨

We had a blast walking alongside our parents, K-5 students, faculty, staff and friends. The energy didn't stop at the finish line—we kept the fun going at the after-party with lawn games and some truly incredible food from the hotel restaurants.

It was a beautiful day for our community to come together and raise funds!

Our Koai’a (2nd/3rd grade) class took a quick Bug-Out Break after lunch.

Students spent some time hanging out with our stick bug friends, practicing our gentle hands and observing these masters of disguise up close.

It was the perfect way to recharge for the afternoon. Turns out, these tiny classmates are great at helping us "stick" to our learning!

Scroll through for some of our favorite snapshots of our afternoon visitors and the budding entomologists who made them feel right at home!
