Did you know that 1 in 5 queen bees pollinating crops across the continental U.S. begin their journey right here in Kona?

Join me for a playful story of how these tiny queens play a vital role in supporting agriculture far beyond our Hawaiian islands.

I'm honored to have this story featured in the Kids & Pets issue of Kona Coast City Lifestyle magazine.

I'd love for you to give it a read and let me know what you think!

A closing night to remember.

Another beautiful Waimea evening marked the end of a successful four-month run of the Hawaii Beekeeper Legacy Project exhibit at Anna Ranch, Waimea

Last night, we welcomed 100 guests for great food, live music, a final run through the exhibit, and a super interesting panel on invasive species, biosecurity, conservation, and Hawaii's beekeeping industry.

One of the highlights for me was seeing a room full of beekeepers, farmers, conservationists, and community members all gathered together around a shared interest in Hawaii's agriculture and our future.

I had the honor of moderating a panel discussion with Senator Tim Richards, Stacey Chun of the Hawaii Department of Agriculture, Franny Brewer of the Big Island Invasive Species Committee, and Dr. Steven Montgomery, President of the Hawaii Beekeepers Association.

While some elements of the topic were heavy, our panelists brought insight, expertise, experience, and even humor to the conversation. The discussion reinforced just how interconnected agriculture, conservation, biosecurity, and beekeeping really are.

I felt incredibly honored to sit alongside this group of experts and help share this important conversation with our community.

Mahalo to everyone who visited the exhibit, attended events, shared stories, brought students, and supported this project over the past two years. Seeing so many people connect with Hawaii's agricultural history through the lens of beekeeping has been deeply rewarding for me.

On to the next one!
