How to give children opportunities for independence and to expand their food palates?

It really can be as simple as a cutting board, some sort of knife (here, a wooden training knife perfect for small beginner hands), and a bowl for peels!

Place a bowl of bananas (or bananas cut into half or thirds for smaller stomachs) on a shelf or in the child friendly refrigerator for easy access.

Use similar setups for all kinds of fruit, cheese, and even cooked chicken breast.
