Local artist Heidi Bukoski will be joining us this March as a guest instructor teaching the age old Scandinavian technique, Naalbinding! This equally project and technique based workshop will introduce students to this "needle knitting" technique to begin the creation of a pair of mittens. Hey there Fiber Mavens! One of the best things about being part of the fiber community around the Fiber & Weaving Department at the KIA is the opportunity to see, share, and enthuse about the remarkable fiber experiments that we create. This group has a wealth of creativity and ingenuity when it comes to experimentation and stretching the boundaries of what fiber arts can be.

All this to say, hey! There's a call for submission for the Autumn 2023 Spin Off that sounds like a lot of what this group is about. Here are the submission guidelines if you are interested. Your ingenuity is inspired and inspiring; this could be your chance to pass it along to a wider audience!

Spinning classes start next week! Textural Spinning Techniques begins the Spring term on Monday followed by Spinning returning to evenings for the first time in a couple of years on Tuesday night. ⭐ Gallery Shop highlight with Cory Zann! ⭐

Cory’s love of weaving began 40 years ago when a friend simply signed her up for a weaving class and called to say, “it begins this Thursday.” Quickly bitten by the weaving bug, Zann bought a loom and joined the Weavers Guild of Kalamazoo.
