A group of citizens formed the Kalamazoo Bicycle Pedestrian Coalition last July to get needed changes to make it safe for all users on Michigan Ave. This project was called the “Safe Streets Campaign”. Dedicated bike tracks, narrower Michigan Avenue recommended in downtown Kalamazoo Joshua Sikich, project manager for the Alta Planning + Design consultant team, said the top priority to address that they heard from the public was pedestrians. The second priority was identified as a tie between cars and bicycles.
