The five years between India becoming an autism parent and launching the Empower Play program at Delaware Sensory Museum are not five years of passive waiting. They are five years of navigating the specific terrain — therapy appointments, evaluations, school meetings, the search for environments where a neurodivergent child can participate without requiring accommodation as an exceptional favor — that produced both the knowledge of what was missing and the motivation to build it.
Empower Play opens this August in partnership with EastSide Charter School and Chemours STEM Hub: a sensory-informed after-school program designed for children of all abilities, built around hands-on learning, sensory exploration, social connection, and family support. The founding principle is belonging as design intent rather than as aspiration. Delaware had not had this. It does now.
One hundred families joined the waitlist in the first 24 hours after announcement. ""Some of our greatest challenges can become the foundation for serving others"" is the sentence India offered that describes exactly what the five years of navigating produced. The challenge became the expertise. The expertise became the program. The program is open.

What an amazing day at the Do-Dah Parade!😁🧩❤️
Mom’Atism was proud to walk alongside our autism families, advocates, and supporters while spreading awareness, acceptance, and inclusion throughout our community. Seeing the smiles on our children’s faces and the excitement from the crowd made every moment worth it!
A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support us, walked with us, cheered us on, and helped make this experience so special. And of course, a special thank you to Bluey for joining the fun and bringing so much joy to our families! 💙
Mom’Atism is more than a support group—we are a community that creates opportunities for our families to connect, celebrate, and make lasting memories together.
We can’t wait to see what adventure comes next!
