This group is for our students, instructors and friends of the WMU Hydrogeology Field Course to netw A final exam will be given at the end of each week.

General Information
The WMU Hydrogeology Field Course is a series of six (6) one-week modules taught six days per week (Mon - Sat) with classes beginning at 8:00am each day and will often run into the evening depending upon specific field projects. The course will be conducted on and near the campus of Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI. The final grade will be derived from field perf

A group of faculty and industry professionals across the U.S. and Canada is conducting a survey to assess how well hydrogeology field camps prepare students for today’s workforce.

If you have completed a hydrogeology field camp or related field module, we invite you to share your experience. Your input will help identify gaps and improve future training.

The survey takes about 10 minutes and is confidential. Please also consider sharing it with colleagues or employers who have relevant experience. Thank you for your time and valuable insight.

Michigan Geological Survey - Research Associate - Hydrogeologist

The Michigan Geological Survey, located in Kalamazoo, MI, is part of the Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences at Western Michigan University. The survey focuses on geologic research to promote the wise use of natural resources and provides valuable expertise and historic data to the public.

Groundwater is a critical resource, and the survey's goal is to improve our understanding of the presence, quantity, and quality of groundwater across the state.

Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Research Associate Hydrogeologist at the Michigan Geological Survey focusing on groundwater resource identification, evaluation, and mapping. The role involves conducting field work, logging, design and performance of aquifer tests and evaluations, GIS, geological mapping, and drilling as part of daily tasks.

Qualifications
Field Work and Logging skills
Aquifer testing and data analyses
Understanding of groundwater movement in glaciated materials
Geological Mapping skills
Proficiency in Drilling techniques
Experience in GIS, data analysis and interpretation
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Hydrogeology, geology or related field
Previous experience in hydrogeology research projects
Groundwater modeling experience a plus
