For those unfamiliar, Ethics Bowl is a unique, constructive debate format. It focuses on dialogue, active listening, and deeply analyzing real-world ethical issues.

⚡️𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐚: 𝐀 "𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧-𝐔𝐩" 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐰𝐥 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫
To give our students rigorous practice and to support their competition travel, we want to launch a "grown-up" ethics bowl competition and fundraiser (think of a grown-up spelling bee, but for ethical debate!). The concept is to have our undergraduate team face off against mature students and community members in a competition-like setting.

We are still ironing out the details and need a creative group to help us map it out. This is an open invitation. If you know anyone else who might be interested in ethics, student coaching, or event planning, please share this invite!

Our first event of the semester is this Thursday! Join us at Waldo Library @ 5 p.m. for a public screening and interactive discussion of “The Bowl” (2025), a documentary that explores the Michigan High School Ethics Bowl Competition.

Congratulations to all Fall 2025 graduates!!

Teamwork meets critical thinking! The WMU Ethics Center and Department of Philosophy partnered to send an interdisciplinary Bronco crew to the Ethics Bowl regional qualifier at Northeastern Illinois University on November 15. The team went 1-2-1 in a series of close matches. 👏
Students prepared for the competition through PHIL 3140: Ethics Bowl, taught by Dr. Jon Milgrim. Graduate student Emily Alberty served as teaching assistant and coach, with additional coaching support from Michael Brook. Go Broncos!! 🐴💛🤎
