As Burd reflects on war, marriage, grief, and the family that sustained him, larger questions emerge. What does it mean to become one of the final witnesses to major historical events? What details disappear when a person dies? And what can cinema preserve before that moment arrives?

For those unfamiliar, Ethics Bowl is a unique, constructive debate format. It focuses on dialogue, active listening, and deeply analyzing real-world ethical issues.

To give our students rigorous practice and to support their competition travel, we want to launch a "grown-up" ethics bowl competition and fundraiser (think of a grown-up spelling bee, but for ethical debate!). The concept is to have our undergraduate team face off against mature students and community members in a competition-like setting.

We are still ironing out the details and need a creative group to help us map it out. This is an open invitation. If you know anyone else who might be interested in ethics, student coaching, or event planning, please share this invite!
