I swear I really do want to show you art supplies but the fountain pens and inks keep rolling in and they’re too good not to show!

Soooo much cuteness and whimsy just arrived. It will be a while before I can do all the things that must be done to get it all on the shelves but it’s really fun to open the boxes so that part is happening now.

Hello and Happy Wednesday! I’m back at the shop today and it looks like Jasmine has been busy stocking the shelves in my absence.

New on the shelves: Wearingeul ink, fountain pens, and swatch cards.

Restocked: Gamblin oil paints and Zebra pens.

To be restocked (still in boxes!): more Zebra, Daniel Smith (looks like it got hit hard while I was away - thank you!), Poscas and more.

Good morning :) I’m back at the shop today and I’ll be closing a few minutes early (5:45 or so) to make it to my son’s soccer game on time.

Long car rides give time for deep reflection and I did a lot of that over the past couple of days. It’s time for me to correct course though I’m not yet sure how drastically. This is such a beautiful little shop and also it was an accident and I’m not sure how I got here so 🤷🏻‍♀️

To start, all Jacquard screen printing inks, Schmincke watercolors, M Graham oil paints, and Amsterdam acrylic paints (open stock and sets) are now 20% off.

Good morning! I’m in Louisville but the shop is open 12-6 today.

We got some help yesterday from Mattie’s childhood friends and one of them gifted Matt with this adorable stamp they carved. It was their first time using printmaking tools! Pretty impressive, isn’t it? If you want to try printmaking for yourself you can get everything you need at Kalamazoo Dry Goods.

Also, I realized today that next weekend is the St. James Court Art Show in Louisville, so if you’re in town for the show you’ll be able to stop by Write On! Stationery Store and get some great stationery supplies, too!

I’ve probably done myself a disservice by calling my shop “little” because, while the building itself is low-profile and modest compared to the buildings surrounding it, we’ve managed to pack over 14,000 SKU’s inside. It’s pretty incredible, really, that this small footprint holds so many great supplies.

We hope you can make it here soon to explore all of them!

Guess what I’m finally doing? 😅 I’ve been trying to swatch all these inks for a couple of weeks now and I’ve finally gathered both the supplies and the time.

I chose to use Yupo paper because Tomoe River felt too thin, but both allow the ink to sit on top while it dries to show off all the sheen and shimmer. An Herbin glass dip pen makes quick work of the writing because it can be cleaned so quickly. I’m also a glass dropper to move the ink from bottle to paper and a Princeton Aqua Elite brush to push the ink around.

There are so many ways to swatch inks, so this one isn’t right or wrong - it just gets the job done. I’d love to see your favorite ways to swatch!
