Summer program spotlight: Training for Orchestra

This class is for students with one to two years of experience playing a stringed instrument. In this introductory ensemble, students will learn basic orchestral techniques to help prepare them for school orchestra in the fall and advanced ensembles.

Audrey Lipsey, Crescendo Academy of Music s Executive Director and Conductor of Prep Strings and Training Orchestra for the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestras, will lead this special 7-week program.

Class meets June 16 - July 28 on Tuesdays 4:30 – 6:00 pm. Cost is $150; financial aid is available. Link to register in comments.

Summer program spotlight: Crescendo Fiddlers is for string students of all ages with at least two years of playing experience.

Directed by Timothy Cuffman, this ensemble explores musical styles outside of the classical music tradition, including American and Celtic fiddle music, Blues, and Jazz. There will be opportunities for class members to learn new techniques and to experiment with improvisation.

Registration is OPEN for our summer Music Together class session!

Music Together classes help children of all ages—babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and big kids—discover their inner music-maker by playing and bonding with the grownups they love.

The 6-week summer session begins on June 22. Need-based financial aid is available.
