One thing I never was aware of was how being a musician opens you to so many artistic doors. I reviewed my CV last night, as a Performance major I had never even really played for theater or knew much about theater. By taking opportunities to learn how to music direct, I became more understanding of how crucial music is to the performing arts. It sets the tone, enhances the emotional response of the audience, and is the backdrop for movement and building of intensity-or lowering it. The arts matter so much. I am blessed to understand and FEEL the intense purpose the arts serves. It lifts the spirit and inspires hope. I reflect on how every ethnic culture values music and dance. They go together real bad! 🎶💃🏽

Here's to all the artists, and the ones who gave me space to just enjoy and feel art in the opening night of The Lion King in Kzoo. I most enjoyed the Sounds of Africa performances right inside of the show, and watching the music director. It felt like being in church at the theater, a place where expression is meant to be seen and felt. Glad they stopped and blessed our city right quick.
