RUNNER EDITION: THIS or THAT?
We need answers, Kalamazoo runners:
Hat or Sunglasses?
Post-run beer or post-run ice cream?
Podcast or music during your run?
There are no wrong answers… but we KNOW people have strong opinions about these.
Maybe you’re team sunglasses because sweat in your eyes is not the vibe. Maybe nothing beats celebrating a long run with ice cream. Or maybe your playlist is the only thing carrying you through those last tough miles.
Running may bring us together, but the little preferences are what make every runner unique.
Drop your picks below and defend your choices. Bonus points if you explain WHY.

Let’s talk pacing.
One of the biggest game changers in running isn’t running harder; it’s learning how to pace smarter.
We’ve all done it: starting too fast because we feel amazing… only to hit “the wall” a few miles later. The truth is, good pacing helps you conserve energy, finish stronger, and actually enjoy your runs more.
A few pacing tips to keep in mind:
- Start slower than you think you should
- Run by effort, not ego
- Save energy for the second half
- Use conversational pace on easy days
- Remember: consistency beats burnout
The best runners aren’t always the fastest starters; they’re often the smartest finishers.
Learning your pace takes time, patience, and practice. Trust the process and listen to your body along the way.
What’s your biggest pacing lesson you’ve learned from running?

Can you believe we’re already halfway through 2026?!
Six months ago, many of us set goals, made resolutions, signed up for races, or promised ourselves we’d move a little more consistently this year.
Progress isn’t always linear. Some seasons are for PRs, some are for rebuilding, and some are simply about showing up when you can. Every mile, every walk, every workout, and every small step counts.
The beauty of running is that every day gives you another chance to begin again.
There’s still so much time left for growth, strength, and new memories on the run.
What’s one goal you want to accomplish before the end of 2026?

Happy Global Running Day!
Today, we celebrate every mile, every pace, and every person who chooses to put one foot in front of the other.
Running is about so much more than finish lines. It’s about stress relief after a long day, early morning sunrises, friendships built on shared miles, confidence gained through consistency, and proving to yourself that you’re capable of hard things.
No matter where you are in your journey, we’re glad you’re here. Kalamazoo runs stronger because of YOU.
Now tell us: where are you running today?

Hydration isn’t just for race day; it’s part of every great run.
As the temperatures heat up, staying hydrated becomes one of the most important tools in your training routine.
Proper hydration helps regulate body temperature, improve endurance, reduce fatigue, and keep your recovery on track.
Translation? Your body feels better, your miles feel smoother, and your post-run self will thank you.
A few easy hydration reminders:
- Drink water consistently throughout the day
- Don’t wait until you feel thirsty
- Add electrolytes on longer or hotter runs
- Bring water on summer runs whenever possible

Warmer weather running is here!
Training in the heat takes strategy, but you’ve got this!
• Hydrate early and often
• Dress light and breathable
• Run early or later in the evening
• Adjust your pace and listen to your body
Remember: effort matters more than pace when temperatures rise.
Stay smart, stay safe, and keep moving all summer long 💙

RUN TIP
Don’t skip your warm-up!
Just 5–10 minutes of easy jogging or dynamic movement can help prevent injury and improve your performance.
Think of it as setting the tone for your entire run!
Start slow, loosen up, and then build into your pace.
