Hello!

I wanted to let you know about an unexpected change regarding my old website domain, [brookspianostudio.com]. It recently expired and was purchased by a third party who is now using it for inappropriate content. Please know that I no longer have any connection to that website.

This doesn’t affect any of my teaching, scheduling, or communication with you, just the web address. I have no plans to create a new website as I take a hiatus from teaching starting May 18th, 2025. For news and updates regarding my studio please follow my page!

If you had the old link saved anywhere, I’d really appreciate it if you’d update it. And if you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Warmly,
Jessica

My for a little bit of a challenge & because I want to. You don't need a reason to play something, just go play it.

And always some Hymns because they're fun to noodle around with.

Studio is decorated for Christmas & I'm practicing (again)! Pieces are starting to sound like actual songs now, looking forward to rehearsal on Wednesday!

It's 11:30pm on Thanksgiving and I am up practicing because I fell asleep around 9ish for a little bit but desperately wanted to get a little more done today. However....my husband is trying to sleep & has to work in the morning. How can I practice without waking him? Without the piano!🤣 It may seem a little counterintuitive but it's actually just as needed! The passage I've shared a picture of is a little tricky rhythm wise so I'm going to tap through it quietly to work on learning that and will pick it back up (on the piano) tomorrow. If you have long car rides or homes you're visiting with no piano this holiday season, this is a great way to still get some practice time in!

For me it's also the perfect time for some hot cocoa!😊🙌🤌

Goodnight!

Late (for me) night practice session.

Tonight's practice session didn't honestly start out great. The piece I'm playing just WAS NOT flowing like it did last time. I reeeeaaalllyy wanted to quit & go do something else. But I stayed, and kept going. I took a break here and there to reset but I stayed on my bench.

And I'm glad I did! By the end my flow was back and it sounded the way I wanted it to.

My point is this: practicing is not always going to be easy. In fact it is hard a lot of the time. Sometimes a piece starts easy and then gets hard. Sometimes it starts hard and stays hard and is just all around difficult. But stick with it. You will grow as a musician, as a pianist, and as a human and it is so worth it.

So, roll up your sleeves my friend and go practice.

TFW you've been practicing for weeks and the part you knew best starts falling apart😓

Take a break, grab your fav bevvy, and keep practicing. It will get better.🥰

I am so excited to announce I am accompanying the Portage Chapel Hill children's choir again this year!

Last year I had the wonderful opportunity ro accompany them and it was such an amazing experience. I am so glad I get to join them again this year and now I get to share that experience with you all too!

This season the first performance will be in November as we celebrate the Thanksgiving season with The Colors of Life.

In December there will be a full program but I don't have the music for that yet so . I have heard that Noel will be one of the performance pieces though.

Last, at a performance yet to be determined, will be An African Worship Song.

Keep a watch here for a practice video soon so you can see me put into action what we talk about in lessons!

Last Thursday we celebrated all of the hard work over the summer by the musicians at Brooks Piano Studio. Everyone did such a great job presenting what they learned, how they overcame difficult passages, and performing! I'm so proud of you all and can't wait to see your continued success!

The Summer Session is coming to a close and the Performance Lab is this Thursday, August 25th ! It is a great opportunity for your musician to practice performing in front of people in a relaxed atmosphere! Hope to see you there!
