Our 2025-26 school year has come to an end …
I should’ve taken more pictures … but instead I was immersed in the fun.
LNCCC was proud to host 20 preschoolers and 10 babies/toddlers during our school year together. What a joy to celebrate the end of the school year with our precious families. It was good to hug former kiddos and see so many smiling faces.
As we wrap up our year we are looking forward to having A/C in the fall 😉 and returning in August to new friends that will become part of our LNCCC family.
Happy Summer break everyone!

Teaching Self-Regulation Skills in Autistic Children
Self-regulation is the ability to notice, understand, and respond to emotions and sensory input in a way that feels manageable.
For autistic children, regulation often starts with understanding their unique sensory and emotional needs.
Dysregulation is not “misbehavior”—it is often a nervous system response to overwhelm, change, or sensory overload.
The first step in teaching regulation is co-regulation, where a calm, supportive adult helps the child feel safe.
This can look like offering quiet space, reducing noise or stimulation, or using gentle, predictable language.
Visual supports, routines, and social stories can help children understand what to expect and feel more secure.
Sensory tools like weighted items, fidgets, movement breaks, or deep pressure can support regulation needs.
It is also helpful to teach children to recognize early signs of overwhelm in their body.
Simple phrases like “my body feels tight” or “I need a break” can be modeled and practiced over time.
Regulation skills are built slowly through repetition, patience, and supportive relationships.
Every child learns at their own pace, and safety and connection always come first.
With consistent support, autistic children can grow stronger in understanding and managing their own nervous system.

This week we took a moment to celebrate several staff members who have exciting life updates..
Miss Sofia will be graduating next week, Wednesday from LNHS! We are so proud of her!! No worries of her leaving us though…she is working on her CDA (Child Development Associate certificate) and will be returning to LNCCC in the fall!! 🩷
Miss Ella had an eventful school year. She got married 💍, graduated with her bachelor degree and is currently working to complete her Masters. In the fall Ella will be student teaching at Maple Street Magnet School. We hope to see her a couple days a week near closing time but the majority of her time will be spent with her new “big kids”. Lucky kiddos 🙂.
Miss Carolyn has been at LNCCC for 9 years. She is planning to SEMI retire in the fall and will reduce her work hours at LNCCC. She is hoping to travel, spend time with her family and try out new recipes in her down time.
Congratulations ladies on these big milestone achievements.
