The partnership creates a streamlined transfer pathway for eligible Kellogg Community College students by guaranteeing admission to WMU, providing scholarship support, and making it easier for students to continue their education and earn a bachelorโs degree.

Major progress alert at the Kalamazoo Event Center! ๐จโจ
Exterior framing for the practice ice rink and arena seating installation are officially complete! Inside, main arena painting is underway, while exterior glass, metal wall panels and roofing continue to go up.
The venue will be the home of the Western Michigan Men's Basketball, Western Michigan Women's Basketball, Western Michigan University Bronco Hockey and the Kalamazoo Wings Hockey Club.
Slated to open in fall 2027, the Kalamazoo Event Center will serve as a year-round destination for sports, entertainment and community events. The facility is expected to host more than 230 events annually, attract more than 700,000 visitors and generate an estimated $50 million in annual economic impact for the region.

Five decades of sailing strong! โตโจ The Western Michigan Sailing Team holds a special place in Bronco history as the longest continuously running sports club at Western, 52 years and counting!
The club creates lasting connections both on campus and in the community. Many members even give back by teaching youth sailing at Gull Lake Yacht Club.
The original founder and alum Greg Smith is still part of the journey, helping guide the club into its next chapter.

Kalamazoo is a CITY OF CHAMPIONS! ๐๐ Congratulations to feature twirler Emily Brown on winning the Senior Grand National Twirling Championship!
Emily is heading back to the Bronco Marching Band for her second year, and she's doing it as a NATIONAL CHAMPION!
She also secured a spot as a rhythmic soloist on the U.S. Team traveling to Italy in 2027 for the world championships of the World Federation of National Baton Twirling Associations.โจ

Western's all-female team of pilots finished 10th in the 2026 Air Race Classic, Inc.! โ๏ธ ๐
Competing against 22 collegiate teams, Ava Anderson, Caroline Yuska, Evelyn Passejna, Lorelai Jousma and Josey Campbell proved that hard work and dedication pay off. This marks 's 22nd appearance in the Air Race Classic since 2000!
โThis has been a life-changing experience, getting to know the team and supporting one another throughout this year through so many personal and training milestones and having also learned countless real life skills during fundraising and representation of the team,โ says junior Evelyn Passejna.

Bronco Advocate-in-Chief Russ Kavalhuna has spent the past year connecting with Broncos wherever they are! ๐
Returning to his alma mater to serve as Western's 10th president, President Kavalhuna brought his unique background as a former commercial pilot and aviation flight science graduate back home to .
This year included months of โKavalhuna conversationsโ with students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and community partners that are helping guide Westernโs future.
He also led the charge to create new pathways to Western through expanded agreements with Kalamazoo Valley Community College, West Michigan Aviation Academy and Kellogg Community College, making it easier financially and logistically for more students to become Broncos.
