🔥 LIVE at Kalama Elementary! 🚒
We’ve spent the last couple of days with Cowlitz County Fire District 5 for Fire Prevention Awareness! 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒
Our students are getting hands-on learning about:
✅ "Stop, Drop, and Roll"
✅ How to spot fire hazards at home
✅ Participate in a simulation in an inflatable house
✅ A map for each student to take home to plan an escape in case of a fire

Kalama School District is proud to announce Sophia Carter as the district’s very first Student of the Month for the 2026–2027 school year!

Sophia has kicked off the fall semester with exceptional enthusiasm, strong leadership, and an inspiring vision for her future. Aspiring to enter the pediatric medical field, she is already laying a solid foundation for her career by diving headfirst into her English and Early Childhood Development coursework.

Her dedication and positive energy have not gone unnoticed by the KHS faculty.

"Sophia has started the year off showing an eagerness to learn," said English and Early Childhood Development teacher Ms. Hall. "She shared her goals with me about entering the pediatric medical field and is taking both English and Early Childhood Development classes very seriously. Her work is on time, she contributes to the class in a positive way, is willing to help out her peers, and is all in all, a kind, positive person."

Sophia exemplifies the core values of Kalama High School through her kindness, work ethic, and commitment to serving others. Please join the entire Kalama School District community in congratulating Sophia Carter on being named the September 2026 Student of the Month!

We can’t wait to see everyone out here tomorrow from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM for our annual Back to School Carnival! We already know you'll show up in full force, because showing up for our kids is just what Chinooks do!

What an incredible first day of school for our 1st–12th graders! From students, staff and teachers catching up with each other, to engaging first lessons in the classroom (especially that guitar solo from Mr. Groff), today set the perfect tone for the year ahead.

A massive shoutout to our dedicated teachers, hardworking support staff, and incredible families for helping launch this morning smoothly. And to our students - your energy, big smiles, and ready-to-learn attitudes made Day 1 unforgettable!
