I maikaʻi ke kalo i ke ʻōhā 🌱
When the kalo thrives, so do the ʻōhā , the keiki. This ʻōlelo noʻeau reminds us that when the foundation is strong, when the mākua are nurtured, grounded, and intentional, our children will flourish.
Our Hui Mākua embodies this manaʻo every single day.
They are the steady roots that keep showing up, sacrificing, leading, and giving of themselves so their keiki can grow in ʻike, in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi, in identity, and in purpose. The long nights, the early mornings, the problem-solving, the unseen work… all of it is done with one intention: to shape who their keiki will become.
Being a mākua in this space is support, it is commitment, kuleana, and love in action.
E hūnā i ka ʻupena i ka moana, a e loaʻa ka ʻai no ka ʻohana 🤍
This year’s theme lives through our parents. Every hour given, every challenge overcome, every detail thoughtfully planned, it is all a collective casting of the net.
Hoʻomau does not happen without the Hui Mākua. It is their unity, their dedication, and their belief in our lāhui that allows this event to feed not just those present, but generations to come.
Mahalo nui loa to our Hui Mākua for being the roots, the strength, and the reason our ʻōhā continue to thrive. 🌺
