The Maui Family YMCA received a donation from Banana Republic, Old Navy and Gap of around 10,000 shirts, pants, shoes, dresses, etc, to give away in the community. They managed to identify some families that could really use the cloths and yet they still have nearly half of the items left.
Therefore, YMCA will be opening up to the public for anyone who needs clothes. Here's the details:
The Maui Family YMCA will be hosting a Clothe Our Community event on Saturday, August 1 between the hours of 11am and 3pm. This event will be held at our main office located at 250 Kanaloa Ave Kahului, HI 96732. This clothing giveaway is FREE and available to anyone in need. All clothes are new and unused, donated by Banana Republic, Old Navy and Gap.
Guidelines For The Event
-Families will be allowed to fill one recyclable tote bag (ie: Walmart bag) with clothes - One bag per participant. Bring your own bag.
-Only one family member will be allowed into the facility. Due to CDC Guidelines, we will be limiting the amount of people in our facility during the event.
-Each family will have twenty (20) minutes to select their items.
Although we would like to clothe our entire community, the majority of our donations are adult sizes. There is a small selection of youth clothing as well.
If you have any questions regarding this event, contact our Welcome Center at 808-242-9007 or [email protected]

Aloha Phi Theta Kappans!
Each year, right before finals week, Phi Theta Kappa students host a "Encouragement for Exams Exchange" event.
This event is simple and fun (and yummy -- we serve popcorn): It's essentially a booth where Phi Theta Kappa students "encourage" their peers during the stressful time of finals.
PTK students write up words of encouragement, place the encouragement pieces of paper into a fish bowl, and then share the encouragement (and popcorn!) with students. All students are encouraged to add encouragements into the fishbowl.
This is also an opportunity for PTK students to talk about membership into Phi Theta Kappa, since the deadline to join is Friday, May 3rd.
This year, the event will be held outside the main doors of the Library, on Wednesday 5/1 & Thursday 5/2 from 10:30am to 2pm.
There are two ways you all can participate:
1) volunteer to "man" the booth for an hour or longer one or both of the days, and/or 2) contribute to the list of encouragements by adding them to this file in Google drive.
If you are available to help with the booth, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. We need volunteers both days starting at 10am and ending around 2:30pm.
Thanks so much!
