Here is a great opportunity to reduce the clutter and mess around your home. Clutter makes a less safe environment for you to live in, and makes it more difficult for rescuers to reach you in an emergency.
West Maui residents can dispose of recyclable, bulky items at Go Green Recycling events from 8 a.m. to noon June 13 or June 27, 2026, near the Pioneer Mill Smokestack on Lahainaluna Road (enter off Kuhua Street).
Appointments are required for the free events, which are hosted by nonprofit Mālama Maui Nui in partnership with the County of Maui Department of Environmental Management (DEM) Environmental Protection & Sustainability Division Abandoned Vehicles and Metals Section.

We are in hurricane season, and the wildfire potential is higher as the days get warmer and longer. A tsunami or earthquake can happen any time of year with little warning.
Does your ohana have supplies stockpiled and a go-bag for each family member (including pets) ?

The National Weather Service in Honolulu issued a High Surf Warning at 9:54 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, for south-facing shores of all Hawaiian Islands through 6 a.m. Tuesday. A Coastal Flood Statement is in effect through Tuesday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, a large, long-period south-southwest swell combined with King Tides will produce dangerously large breaking waves of 10 to 15 feet, significant wave run-up and isolated minor coastal flooding, especially during afternoon and early evening high tides.
Safety tips:
• Stay well back from the shoreline.
• Never turn your back on the ocean.
• Avoid flooded coastal roadways.
• Use extreme caution near channel entrances.
• Follow instructions from public safety officials.
