ATTN 10th grade students: Northwest ISD Cosmetology Academy is hosting its Academy Night on Wednesday, Oct. 21st from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at Northwest High School. Students and their families are invited to learn about this unique 2-year Academy program, tour the salon and training facilities, and talk with teachers and current students.

The district's commitment to prepare students to be future ready provides an opportunity to graduate with Texas Cosmetology and Class A Barbering licenses, all tuition-free!

During their junior and senior years, students complete core classes at their home campus and attend the academy for cosmetology classes (district transportation available from BNHS and EHS). Watch our new video to learn more https://tinyurl.com/CosmetologyAcademyatNISD

We're kicking off Academy Nights 2026 next Wednesday, Oct. 14th at VR Eaton High School beginning at 6 p.m.

Families will learn more about Northwest ISD Aviation Academy, Business Management & Entrepreneurship Academy, and the new Transportation, Automation & Logistics Academy opening at Davis High School.

The event will start in the Eaton High School Performing Arts Center, 1350 Eagle Blvd., Haslet

Please allow extra time due to traffic and other events on campus. Attendess should park in the lots on the north side of campus (opposite side of main entrance) near the baseball field and tennis complex.

6:00 p.m. — Welcome and general academy information
6:30 p.m. — Families interested in the Business Management & Entrepreneurship Academy and/or Transportation, Automation & Logistics Academy will walk to the designated academy spaces. Families interested in the Aviation Academy will remain in the Performing Arts Center for a brief presentation and question-and-answer session before proceeding to the Aviation Academy space.
6:45 p.m. — Interactive activities focused on student experiences
7:30 p.m. — Academy Night concludes

Preparing every student to be future-ready happens in every classroom and lab, through every lesson, project and internship, and on every field trip and competition.

One way we prepare students to be future-ready in our Health Science pathway is through opportunities to earn industry-recognized certifications, including EKG Technician and Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA). These credentials can help graduates enter the healthcare workforce with skills for direct patient care, clinical support, and administrative roles in medical offices, clinics and hospitals.

And the results speak for themselves: while the national CCMA exam pass rate is 81%, NISD Health Science students are achieving an impressive 95% pass rate! 👏

We're proud of the students who are proving they're ready and the teachers who prepare students for what's next!

Nearly 300 students in our Advanced Manufacturing program of study from Byron Nelson, Northwest, and Eaton High Schools attended Manufacturing Day at UT Arlington, exploring modern manufacturing careers through interactive stations and demos. 🤖💼 With 31,000 new manufacturing jobs projected in the DFW region, CTE programs and events like these prepare students for in-demand careers.

🌎 Putting skills into practice through real-world experience is an important element in CTE! Last month nearly 900 upper-level students across the district began internships within their program of study.

Some stay on campus and work with a student-run enterprise, such as Byron Bistro for Culinary Academy students, Texan Ink Spot for Creative Media Production Academy students or Eaton Metal Design for students in Applied Ag Engineering. Others complete their practicum with another NISD campus/department, community organization or business.

It's an exciting time for students and teachers! We love seeing how Haley Miller, Byron Nelson High School Human Services Practicum teacher, planned a reveal celebration for her students to learn where they would be interning this year!

💥CTE programs introduce and prepare students for high-paying, high-demand careers! Ag Engineering students recently learned about a variety of welding and a post-secondary education option to specialize in commercial and industrial pipe welding.

As part of their LEAP class, 8th grade students are introduced to Career & Technical Education high school academies and programs of study offered in Northwest ISD. The mailer shares information about these opportunities + district events where students and their families can learn more.

*Academy Nights feature academy overview presentations, facility tours + time to visit with academy teachers and current students. 8th grade students interested in attending a high school academy must submit an enrollment request Oct. 16-Nov. 16.
