On Saturday, May 16, educators from across the region came together for AI in Action: Empowering Teachers to Lead Ethical, Real-World, and Project-Based AI Learning, an engaging day of innovation, collaboration, and future-focused professional learning.
Hosted at the Cox Science Center and Aquarium in partnership with the PBC STEM Ecosystem through the support of the Stiles-Nicholson Foundation, the workshop equipped educators with foundational AI knowledge and practical strategies for meaningful classroom integration.
Facilitator Dr. Angie Moran brilliantly delivered content in a way that not only informed but inspired educators to think deeply about the future of teaching and learning in an AI-driven world. Through hands-on experiences and rich discussion, teachers explored AI concepts, large language models (LLMs), ethics, bias, data privacy, and responsible AI use while engaging in real-world, project-based applications designed to strengthen critical thinking and data literacy.
As AI continues to transform our world, empowering educators to lead these conversations with confidence, creativity, and ethical awareness has never been more important.

We’re proud to partner with PBC STEM Ecosystem in initiatives like Future Ready! that bring together education, industry, community organizations, and district leadership to create meaningful STEM opportunities for students across Palm Beach County.
One of the most powerful moments of the event was hearing directly from six incredible student speakers who shared their experiences with mentorship, STEM learning, and the opportunities helping shape their futures. Their voices reminded us why collaboration and student-centered support matter so deeply. Thank you to all partners working together to inspire and empower the next generation of STEM leaders. The future is truly Future Ready!

On Saturday, April 18, 44 dedicated educators from across the state of Florida came together for an unforgettable day of hands-on environmental learning through FAU Stiles-Nicholson STEM Teacher Academy SNSTA and Florida Atlantic Lab Schools’ Center for Educational Strategy & Innovation in partnership with Inwater Research Group.
The day began aboard a research vessel on the stunning Jupiter Intracoastal, where teachers experienced turtle conservation in action, observing data collection methods and meeting three native Florida sea turtles up close. In the afternoon, participants reconvened at the Florida Atlantic University Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute to translate their on-the-water experience into classroom-ready instruction. Educators explored “turtle trunk” programs- free resources that bring authentic research experiences directly to students.
All learning aligned with the Florida’s Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards for Science, equipping teachers with meaningful, standards-based strategies to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.
