This is our last week teaching riding lessons! Next week I retire from active programs at our facility. We will be caring for the horses here until we move in April. Then our crew gets the first class ride to East Tennessee in a Brookledge 18 wheeler truck! Itβs been a great experience! Thanks for the ride!

The Hard Truth About Horse Rescue: Not All Rescues Are Real Rescues!
It is a deeply saddening reality that within the horse slaughter pipeline, there are individuals profiting off the suffering, some of whom are masquerading as legitimate rescues. This corruption runs deep, and you, the compassionate donor, deserve to know the truth.
π The Fake Rescue Fronts: Some nonprofits are shockingly operated by kill buyers. These individuals set up 501(c)(3) organizations as fronts for their kill buyer businesses, giving out tax receipts to encourage donations that should be going to legitimate rescues, all the while proving exorbitant incomes for these kill buyers. Make sure that any organization you donate to has a strong board of directors, not just 2 or 3 friends and family, for accountability.
πΈ The Kickback Scheme: We've seen instances where kill buyers make financial deals with certain nonprofits, offering kickbacks to take horses. Alarmingly, rescued horses are sent right back to the kill buyer, allowing the kill buyer to claim "all horses went to a rescue" while the nonprofit keeps their kickback.
π΄ The Suffering: Non-legitimate 501(c)(3) organizations often prioritize constant fundraising to bring in more horses over providing strong medical diagnostics and proof of care. Horses that are not easily adoptable often disappear out the back door: sold to traders, taken to auctions, and funneled straight back into the slaughter pipeline. This is utterly despicable and a clear case of donor fraud.
At Horse Plus Humane Society, we are dedicated to transparency and the well-being of every horse:
βοΈ Medical First: We have veterinarians on staff and prioritize strong medical diagnostics, ensuring an animal is not suffering due to an underlying medical condition.
π Adoption to Approved Homes: We have a comprehensive adoption process. This includes thorough screening, checking references, and conducting interviews, all to ensure that our horses go to wonderful, approved homes.
π©ββοΈ Humane Outcomes: We ensure each horse receives the best care based on their medical outcome, including humane euthanasia when it is the kindest option.
Help Us Investigate: The fight against corruption in the horse slaughter pipeline requires all of us. If you have firsthand knowledge or evidence of a fake rescue front, a kill buyer operating a fraudulent 501(c)(3), or a nonprofit engaging in kickback schemes. Please reach out to us through our Hotline 4 Horses and make a confidential report. Your information is crucial and will help us continue investigating. Report Corruption https://bit.ly/4rHlSBh
We stand firm with legitimate rescues who say NO to financial kickback gains from the kill buyers. We work diligently to expose the corruption within the slaughter pipeline and the horse rescue world.
Please choose wisely where you donate. Your generosity should truly save a life.
Hey All
In preparation for our retirement at the end of December, we have closed the Nature Speaks, Inc. Web site effective this week! For information about our upcoming programs, please refer to the Nature Speaks page or call Rachel Ibarra at 561-632-2394. Our facility is in operation for the public until the end of December!
Nature Speaks is taking a break! Our facility will be closed from August 27, 2025 through October 1, 2025. Miss Rachel is having hardware removal and knee replacement surgery and needs time off to recover. Our amazing team of volunteers, friends and the hardest working husband ever, will be caring for the horses during that time! Riding lessons, homeschool programs and special events will restart in October! I am retiring in December however and we are moving out of state in March 2026! All the horses are moving with us including our new baby C**t Ovi! Itβs been my honor to have served the Palm Beach County community as hundreds of children and adults have learned about horses here! The horses have earned their rest, me too!
