Some of the best coaching happens right here.

Not in front of the whole class.

Just a coach, a couple of kids, and a few minutes spent helping them work through something together.

Sometimes it’s correcting a technique. Sometimes it’s encouraging them to try again. And sometimes it’s simply sharing a laugh when things don’t go quite as planned.

We want our kids to work hard and learn real skills.

But we also want them to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, trying something new — and having fun while they’re doing it.

Because kids learn best when they enjoy being on the mat and know their coaches are there to help them succeed.

Those relationships are a big part of what makes Rising Sun feel like Rising Sun.

Raise a Kid Who Stands Tall.

This is fun to watch. 😊

And there’s a lot more happening here than two kids swinging padded sticks.

They’re learning to move. React. Coordinate both sides of the body. Defend, counter, and problem-solve with a partner — all while having a great time doing it.

This is one of the things we love about Filipino Martial Arts.

Kids don’t just memorize techniques. They learn to move with confidence and put their skills together.

Serious training doesn’t mean we have to be serious all the time. šŸ˜„

Sometimes the Hulk gloves come out…and apparently Coach Leah and I completely forget how to defend ourselves. šŸ˜‚

We work hard. We learn. We challenge ourselves. But we also want our students to genuinely love coming to class.

Because some of the best memories happen between the lessons.

Train hard. Have fun. Keep growing.

Meet Solomon šŸ‘Š

If you’ve trained at Rising Sun for a while, chances are you know Solomon.

Solomon has been training with us for a little over three years, and he’s one of those kids who is simply a joy to have on the mat.

He shows up twice a week ready to train. He works hard. He listens. He wants to learn. And no matter who we pair him with, Solomon is the kind of partner who makes training better.

He can work with just about anybody — younger students, older students, beginners or experienced students — and he brings the same great attitude every time.

And that matters.

Because becoming a Black Belt isn’t just about how well you can kick, strike or perform a technique.

It’s about the kind of person you’re becoming along the way.

Being a great partner. Giving your best effort. Being willing to learn. Treating people well. And showing up consistently, week after week, year after year.

Solomon has been doing exactly that for more than three years.

That’s what a future Black Belt looks like.

Keep it up, Solomon. We absolutely love having you on our mats. šŸ‘ŠšŸ„‹

There’s a small moment in this photo that’s easy to miss.

She isn’t just throwing a punch.

She’s doing it while her classmates watch.

For some kids, that part is harder than the technique.

Throughout training, our students are regularly asked to step forward, demonstrate a skill, answer a question, lead part of a class, work with a new partner, or perform while other people are watching.

Little by little, being the person in front doesn’t feel quite so uncomfortable anymore.

They learn that it’s okay to make a mistake.

It’s okay to be watched.

And it’s okay to step forward and try anyway.

Those may look like small moments inside a martial arts class.

But they’re practice for much bigger moments outside of it.

Confidence doesn’t always look like a big moment.

Sometimes it looks like a child staying focused when something is difficult.

Trying again when they don’t get it right.

Learning to control their movement, trust their training, and keep working until it clicks.

Those small moments happen every day at Rising Sun.

And over time, they add up to something much bigger:

A child who knows, ā€œI can handle hard things.ā€

That’s the kind of confidence that follows them far beyond the martial arts floor.

Some moments are bigger than a new belt. ā¤ļø

One of our favorite Rising Sun traditions is giving parents, grandparents and family members the opportunity to be part of a student’s promotion.

Because behind every kid learning to stand a little taller, there’s usually someone encouraging them, driving them to class, celebrating the small victories and believing in them along the way.

These are the moments we love.

Congratulations to all of our students — and thank you to the families behind them. šŸ„‹

That moment when the technique actually works. šŸ˜‚

One of the best parts of learning Filipino Martial Arts isn’t just developing practical skills—it’s how much fun you can have figuring them out with another person.

Learn the technique.
Try it with a partner.

Get the disarm.

Then make that face. šŸ˜‚

No experience required. Just show up ready to learn, move and have a good time.

This is one of those reviews that captures exactly what we hope happens here.

Kids may walk through our doors to learn martial arts—but along the way, something bigger can happen.

They stand a little taller.
They become more comfortable speaking up.
They learn to persevere when something is difficult.
And little by little, they start believing more in what they’re capable of.

That’s what lasting confidence looks like.

Thank you, Stephan, for trusting us with your daughters—and for putting into words what means so much to our team.

Sometimes building confidence looks like this. šŸ’ŖšŸ„‹

Trying something new.
Moving your body.
Being a little silly.
Working hard alongside other kids.
And realizing you can do more than you thought.

At Rising Sun, we want kids to associate challenge with something positive—not something to avoid.

Because confidence isn’t something we can simply give a child.

It’s something they build.

Happy Saturday from the mat in Jupiter! ā˜€ļø
